Now there it is ...if I had to have a trailer this is it....nice, very nice....gotta paint it Olive drab...right. And I suppose another folding tent would give you a guest bedroom. Add GPS under it for those trips away from camp.....this is a sweet unit(and I haven't even seen the inside...pics?)! Pricey? See, Robert Dog does like some things and not afraid to say so. :shhh:

i love those old military jeep trailers but for a decent shape one up here they are pricey but when they are done rigt they look good and im lovin the rockstars

and yours is pre97' but your headliner looks post97'....is it? and how direct was the swap cause my 89s is finished(i figure 20yrs with minimal sagging till recently was a good run) and i was just gunna redo the fabric with realtree hardwoods but ive notice the fiberglass backing is coming apart and ive been told the newer xjs had a nicer backing?

just curious if you had more pics of the job?

thanks

No, it's the factory soundbar for my 94. I have no idea on the comparison of the newer vs older backing.. sorry.

thinking about doing the wheels also

Picked up and mounted the RTT yesterday. Also raised the pintle mount a tad and it tows great.

The ease of setup is dramitically improved, i'm going to like the combination.

I like that you can just un-hook the trailer, go wheel for the day, and come back to an already set-up camp.

So, are you going to buy your own, or build one?

I have one that i'm reoutfitting, hope to have it done for fall camping.. i'm sure it will be.

Too many projects, only so much stamina..

A pic of this setup at camp during NAC-Fest. For those that dont know it rained heavily several days during the event and in the evening. So i found a few flaws with the setup.

This trailer has no tailgate, if i needed anything out of the trailer it became a PITA to get to it. A tailgate would make life much easier for me.

I took a ShadyBoy gazeebo for rain protection vs setting up my awning off the rig. This was a mistake.. the SB pooled water making life miserable. There was another shelter in camp that looked much better with a higher center and appeared to not pool.. i'll be looking for a replacement.

My trailer will also see the addition of an awning, perhaps a large system like on the Conqueror Trailers.

Otherwise i did enjoy the trailer and now have a few design issues to incorporate into my project.

Dont want to steal your thread but wanted to show what you inspired me to do.
Finally some progress!
Scuffed up the paint, which was in good shape, went with Krylon OD flat rattle can. All told took 13 cans, approx 4 coats over the entirety.
As far as the bedliner, I went with the only 2 part epoxy system I could find out there, gator-guard. It took 2 complete kits, I was happy with it, I put approx. 2 coats on for good coverage. I had some serious rust issues on the roof and some more minor ones on the bottom of the doors. I wire brushed the rust off, acetone cleaned, sprayed any rust areas or bare metal areas with rust converter, then bedliner. The doors are removable so I had them all off in order to fully protect the edges right up to the bend as well as the interior bottom approx 3-4". While I had the doors off I also did the door sills and rockers right down to the pinch seam. I had some bad problems along the roofline at the windshield where I was the victim of vandalism and my body guy butchered the job so I did right in the windshield channel. Very happy with the results.

Nice job on the bedliner application - I was looking at the roof and thinking that it would be like sitting in an oven, then I saw you're in Canada, I'm in Florida - there's the difference!! What size tires / lift is on that rig? Looks nice!

Any discoloring in the OD paint is just overspill from the bedliner prep, the OD really blends in nice, and any scratches I get are easily gone over with a spare can and blends like nothing I've seen!
Those tires are just some freebies I was basically given, but they had great tread so I've had them for 2 yrs now and will keep them till December. Don't even know the name of them but they're 33's. Stock gearing and approx. 4" lift. Want to regear before I go bigger or higher. Thanks a lot

Why thank you Overland, I appreciate that. Yours was definitely the inspiration. Love the OD.

No lifting of the laquer when you put down the 2k liner? You're lucky!

Was this to me DanMan?

If so I had no lifting, but I did sand all areas to be bedlinered quite well, and I don't know if I mentioned but I used the only 2 part epoxy bedliner I could find around here anyways.
