Project: Geriatric Dinosaur

Looks good Andy! The ninja turtle hat I mean. The XJ looks ok too though haha

HAha!!!

TMNT hat ftw. x2 on just listening to what he says! lol

for reals though, do you have a hard stop on your prothanes? like some uhmw rod in them? bc i compress mine all the way until my shocks bottom out. i also have about a 3/4"-1" airgap

That is what I was wondering. I could mount a piece of UHMW rod in the center, and slip the Prothane over that. It would locate the Prothane, and act as a bump stop. We'll see though I want to test it out first, but I'll probably be in the same boat as you.

yea bump slow down is more like it. I dont really do any gofast stuff, and my shocks are garbage. so I dont care if I bottom then out and destroy them.

what did you have for bumpstops before this?

Uhhh... I ran helium inside my coil springs to act as a bump-slow-down before.... works great, but always makes me sound like a chick when I am done filling them...:anon::laugh2::laugh2:

Yup I gotta order a piece

lol. the prothane locates its self pretty well. so before this you just "never really" needed bump stops?

if thats the case then I would definitely wheel it and see how it feels. you probably wont need any thing as this will make a huge difference over having nothing at all. but it cant hurt to have the uhmw in there incase your son decides to take it skydriving. which wouldn't surprise me.

Nope, never needed bump stops, and never thought I needed them either. I probably STILL wouldn't be using them now if the Prothanes weren't EXACTLY what I dreamed up to use years ago. The inside of the coil spring is such wasted space, I was thinking way back when how cool it would be to put an absorbing material in the middle of that. Good point on the skydriving, the XJ will NEVER get too far off the ground so I'll probably be fine with no UHMW. I'll test it out the way it is for now.

LOL... by the time Jeremy is ready to skydrive, he'll be doing it in our tube buggy, and he and I will be seeing who can jump the furthest!!!!
