Anyone running the RockJock 3.5" rear leaf?

Rock Jock (Currie) has some XJ stuff again. Obviously the front is the same as a TJ, but they have two leaf springs now. The Deaver looks to be the same 9 leaf 4" lift that Deaver has on their site.

The 3.5" is intriguing. Anyone use it, or know any details? I haven't called Rock Jock yet, but does anyone know who makes it?

I am lifting 3" and am looking for the best rear leaf set for comfort and flex - a trail rig not a rock crawler. I can have Deaver build me something, or go OME, or BDS, or maybe these Rock Jocks make sense. I'm in So Cal so I prefer to use local vendors (hence the Deaver discussion).

My entire front lift is Rock Jock(springs, arms, track bar, etc.)

Thanks,

Jeff

My rig is kinda built to go fast. King coilovers valved by accutune. A rear leaf pack scabbed together by me to support the rear fully loaded tools spare parts cooler etc.

My rig also rock crawls extremely well. Can take big rocks badger holes etc at speed across the desert 50 60 mph the harder its pushed the faster it wants to go.

I have not done tons of resesrch on currie stuff. passed a prock rock 60 houseing or center section id probly steer clear of anything with theyre name on it. I guess mainly because i dont know what it is.

Deaver on the other hand has been doing leaf springs for hundreds of years. Id get on the phone n work direct with them or in person if your local.

I am showing my age. It's technically not Currie anymore, it's RockJock. Same guys, same family, same quality. They've been doing hardcore Jeep stuff since guys first started running the Hammers.

Their stuff is beyond reproach quality wise. I just wanted to know about those leafs. Their racing pack is from Deaver.

Its pretty hard to say anything about a set of leaf springs without a bit more info. At a minimum, it would be good to know the flat length of the springs because that affects what shackles are needed as well as affecting the wheel travel. The origin of the spring material would be good to know as well. China-made spring steel typically doesn't have the ability to flex as much as USA-made spring steel, and at this price point, these are most likely China-made. At least they state the spring rate. In my experience, 190 lbs/in is geared more for a lighter weight XJ (e.g., factory rear bumper, spare inside the vehicle, small tool set).

Also, based on appearance, I would guess that these are the same 3.5" XJ leaves sold by Rubicon Express. The image of the 3.5" XJ leaves on the RE website looks to be identical.

I recommend considering the IRO 3.5" XJ leaves.

I'll give them a call today and get more specifics. They are more expensive then OME and IRO so I doubt they are Chinese - the price on the website is for one spring - so it's $500 a set. I would also doubt they are RE, as Currie has never re-badged RE that I can think of, but who knows.

IRO leafs are also imported - correct? Does BDS make their 3" spring in the USA?

I did a fair bit of research on leaf springs, including making many phone calls to the vendors, so I have some info that's not listed on the websites.

Yes, almost a certainty that the IRO springs are also imported. They look nicer to me though. They are 7 leaf and are 185 lbs/in. Flat length is 53.0". Stock is 51.6", so the IRO are almost 1.5" longer than stock.

RE quotes their 3.5" spring as having a spring rate of ... 190 lb/in. I don't have their flat length. As you say though, RockJock has a good rep, so the springs are probably fine.

Does rubicon express even exist in a post 4wheelparts / wheel pros land?

Rubicon express used to source from many vendors, I suspect their RE joints were actually Summit Machine joints, which would be USA made. It wouldn't surprise me if Deaver were making the springs for both RE and Currie/RockJock, so they may be the identical spring.

Interesting. I know for a fact that the Jeepspeed competition springs on Rockjocks sites are in fact G9 Deavers.

I have an old set of RE 1463 springs - pre bankrupt. Maybe I should pop those on and see how they work.
