Progress?

Just wondering what the progress is looking like for the Sierra Chapter folks? Phil? Basalt? SeanP? My rig is ALMOST done... I just gotta weld the tabs on the lower arm to connect the upper arms to, and finish the track bar (got it bent today ). My heep should be rolling soon, but I'm going to have "a few" bugs to work out. I think I'm going to have clearance problems in places I didn't know I had!

OEM wrenching sucks.:repair: I've got a new OEM replacement CPS in there, still no start. I'm gonna be checking the coil tomorrow and go from there. As long as it's rolling by Sunday morning, I'll be going up to Crash's place to put on my (your?) C-rok brace and he's going to weld my track bar bracket. I WILL be on the snow run on the 27th, even if I have to borrow my dad's XJ Waggy for the weekend. Might be fun to take a stocker to Hollister, too.

That's the spirit. I showed up with my 95' Grand Cherokee with a 3" lift before getting my xj.

I guess I'm not part of the in crowd, but as long as I see Bsalt on Friday. I should have my front axle done for Bald Mtn at the end of March!

I'm good to go. Stayed up till three Tuesday night/wednesday morning so I could go to work the next day :( Guess that was yesterday. It's all a blur right now :D

Anyways, axles are in, brakes suck (pedal feel anyways), and as long as the axle doesn't fall off or apart I'll be down there Friday Chuck.

EDIT: Driving without a swaybar or steering stabilizer isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be either.

Here are some crappy pics:

My progress sucks ass.

Kitchen is almost done, two more weekends and I'm back to the Jeep project.

Still need to order pistons and rods, then it's engine build time.

Wheels on. Brakes bled. Line lock installed (ebrake). I haven't seen my rig with wheels on it since July. My interior is still stripped ready for the marathon cage build session, but if I put a milk crate in there and charge the battery I can drive it.

I've got a bunch of stuff to do, mainly maintenence type items to deal with.
Change diff fluid.
Change t-case fluid.
Retighten UCA and trac-bar RE joints(again  ).
Reglue rear part of headliner.
Paint body armor panels.
Install new unit bearing.
Install new front bump stops.
Readjust steering stops.
Get my blown shocks warrantied by RE.
Install rear shock mounts.
Install override on rocker/rockrail.
And a few other thing I can't think of right now.

Yours don't have set screws???

What's an override?
Billy

Yes they have set screws. I think that they(the small RE superflex joints) weren't designed to be used as often as I use them.
What I mean by override is some width to the rockers/rails to keep my doors away from the rocks.

Like this?

That should keep the rocks away! :laugh2:

my list of crap to do on my XJ is:
Pull the dents out of the doors/body
Make a front bumper
Make a back bumper
Make some rockers

Nope I get to keep the XJ, TOO MUCH FUN!

The guy that was going to buy it started trying to talk me down, I got fed up and said to hell with it and told him I am not selling anymore!

I will be putting that "Anti Rollover Device" on my XJ! But I will make mine out of Beer Cans! I think that will help and not be too heavy!

Be sure to use full cans and point them away from the vehicle for added thrust!

i'm slowly making progress on my MJ, but it will definitely be "done" by mid-May when I come back home to Grass Valley. There's a thread here that has a bunch of pictures. For this summer I will have: 4.0/AW4/231/WaggyD44/Toyota8"/4.88/35"mtrs/skids/rails/bumpers/OBA/OBW/hydro-assist/locked front-n-rear and a reckless disregard for sheetmetal :greensmok:

Back in the saddle again

The long MJ (only longbed in the Sierra chapter?) is back on the road again! I ended up just having it finished. I know, I suck. But now I do believe the cat is clogged. There's a rattling coming from inside the exhaust and it feels kinda sluggish. So I am going to put a new cat on and I dunno about a muffler. Next Sunday I should be able to put on the steering brace and weld my track bar bracket. I really should get a pair of spare rear shafts and maybe a driveshaft too but I'm afraid that won't happen quite yet. I should be good to go for the snow without shafts - I hope - and I'll have to be smart at Hollister.
