It's been a while since I had to have anything like this done, so I'm a bit out of the loop.

What I'm looking for is a decal, about A-size (8.5x11, give or take,) with glue rather like that found on bumper stickers, printed on the /glue/ /side/.

Backing paper to be a nice bright colour - yellow, orange, something similar.

Message TBD.

These things should be some WORK to get off.

Looking for a smallish lot - probably 20-50 would do.

Willing to have them mailed in, if the price to print them is right (since postage would be about a buck.)

Let me know, please, via PM.

im not sure what you're asking for here Jon, are you asking for a sticker like what would show the correct way when viewed through glass versus looking at it from the outside?

I can probably help you with this but i need to know exactly what you're looking for bud.

Correct. When stuck on the OUTSIDE of the glass, it should read correctly from the INSIDE.

And, it should be difficult (not impossible) to remove.

For someone else, it's something I had to do when doing "parking enforcement" for the old man's store (retail shop, next door to a bar - and in the same lot - in a college town. I had a friendly print shop then, but he's long since retired...)

In this case, it's friends who live near a school, and the STAFF keeps taking up every possible place for them to park near the house. Since it's a 55-year-old woman and her 82-year-old mother, walking shouldn't happen.

If it were my house, I wouldn't bother with signs. But, I'd be working on a decent selection of spare valve cores for my tyres...

They should talk with the school and have them let the staff know. Sticking something on somebody's car is a good way for you to net negative results...

1) Depriving people who are disabled of parking near their home may not be illegal, but it damned well should be.

2) The school HAS been spoken with.

3) "Vandalism" entails destruction of property. This won't result in destruction or cost money to fix, it's just damned inconvenient (I checked.)

If the school isn't providing enough parking for staff, why should local residents be forced to provide instead? Why should someone who is a good 40-50 years older be forced to walk to their home, from the other end of the block, because someone can't be arsed to get to work early enough to find a parking spot (or walk from far enough out to not generate ill will for the residents)?

Given that, what course of action would you suggest? San Jose PD won't do anything about it, they have no basis. The school apparently can't be arsed doing anything about it. The residents in that neighbourhood don't have driveways they can park in, so that's out.

This is a non-destructive option, that has worked in other situations, and that takes advantage of a grey area in the law. But, I'm open to options - how would you correct the situation, in a manner amenable to all?

In a municipality I used to live in, one of the neighbors brought over a petition for parking by permit only on the streets in the neighborhood. Only the residents could get the permits to park in these zones. The HS kids and administrators across the street, could go suck a rock!

If I walked out of my house and saw an unattended vehicle in my parking, I would call non-emergency dispatch. It took ten minutes for a wrecker to show up. :)

Why would they buy a house where they have shitty parking, and then complain about it? That's like when people rent apartments above bars with a stage and complain when a band is playing.
Based on how well i take it when business cars and flyers are put on my jeep, i'm pretty sure it wouldn't go well for whoever put a sticker there... Careful who you do that to. For the old lady's sake too.

Wow, some of you guys are older and grumpier than i thought...
Street parking doesnt belong to you, I dont give a shit if the home owner is 110, that doesnt give you the right to put anything on anyones car.

IT AINT YOURS, IT AINT HERS. Rude and 'wrong' are two differant things. They shouldve bought a home in a neighborhood more condusive to parking.

If someone knocked your teeth out for putting stupid shit on their car, they'd be in the right doing so.
Dont **** with peoples cars, especially for parking legally....

Be a man, go talk to them. You guys critisize my generation and younger all the time, then you post little dick shit like thiis?

The problem I have with Jon's plan is how malicious it is. You're not trying to solve the problem, you're trying to enact some sort of revenge. That's apparent when your request for the stickers is "difficult if not impossible to remove".

We bitch and moan all the time about the things that are wrong in this country. Feeling like you're entitled enough to a public street to potentially cause damage to someone else's property ranks right up there.

I'm disabled and I would never think of messing with someone's Car because they were parked in "my spot". I myself would have bought a house with a driveway. I can see where it's frustrating but if it's public parking you're gonna have to take it up with city council to get the signs to mark parking spots designated as resident parking.

Jon. I hear your frustration. I visited SF a few years ago. In the area we visited, Everyone converted their garage into extra living space and everyone parked on the street. Parking was a nightmare as it was 1st come... They had the city put time limits on parking, this generally meant that you had to get up at 6am to move your car so it would not get towed.

I agree with everyone who has posted. Public parking is, well, public. You don't own it or have claim on it. Their only recourse is to petition the City to designate a handicap spot or to limit parking hours. Not great solutions.

How about if they improve their lot to allow them to park off the street.
The driveway would only need to be 1 car long.

Just an opinion, but what you'd be doing is trolling for conflict. Confrontation is seldom productive, even if your in the right.

My philosophy is outsmart them, don't outfight them, whenever possible.

I'd put the old brain to work and eventually you'll come up with an epiphany and a solution.

The parking wars suck in general and are largely a no win fight. Some people thrive on conflict and you are offering yourself up as a target.

Solutions that still allow public parking to block homeowner's access. "Parking by Permit Only" restored access to my property.

My father was able to have the curb painted blue in front of his house. Might be worth looking into.

Funny (sad) story about that. The wife has one leg, we got a handicapped spot in front of the house. Lady three doors down and across the street parked in the spot, even though there were 4-5 spots closer to her house and if she is handicapped it doesn't show, unless it is between her ears. I called her on it one day, she looked at me like a bug. A few days later the Cops show up and write me up down and sideways, everything from barking dog to wrenching in my driveway. Between the cost of having to send the XJ to the shop and the fines, it cost me around $1500.

I find out later, she is a secretary at the Cop shop. And I'm guessing she figures she can park any darned place she pleases. I guess if you have a nice rear end and flirt with the Cops, it has perks. I guess who you know and who you blow is what really counts.

I'm not going to go into specifics, but I eventually convinced her to move on, with some help from a few of my friends, ornery oldtimers with nothing better to do. :)

As someone who took a hard response to 5-90 sticker plan, I gotta say if this was a disabled spot, it would be 150% different. Parking in a handicapped spot is 150% not ok.

Permit parking is the devils gym sock, be careful what you wish for.
