Pogue Carb-200 MPG Willy's??

Google search "Pogue Carb" it lists results of a carb prodicing 200 mpg built in the 1930's One man claimed 100 mpg from a 455 c.i. V8 in the 70's using the same principle. Veterans swear it was installed on many Willy's during the 40's getting 80+ mpg. Patent was claimed to be sold to oil companies. Yes, I already posted this but it mysteriously was removed after about an hour.

Re: Pogue Carb-200 MPG Willy's??

yeah ive heard of those. and im sure if they worked some enviromentalist would have brought them back

well unless they were killed by the oil companies first

Think about this a bit. Thousands of engineers, millions of dollars of research money, and they can't reproduce a fricken carburetor that, supposedly, was installed on a bunch of Willyses back in the 30's? Patent or not, nobody with one of those magic Willyses thought to stash one in the barn? Willys wasn't smart enough to hold on to that golden goose? Nowadays any auto manufacturer would kill for an extra five mpg in the fleet. If there were a magic carburetor, they'd have found a way to make it, buy it or steal it by now.

Besides, if it was really patented, then there would be a record of the patent, would there not?

If you search for "Pogue Carburetor" you will find several results that quite thoroughly debunk its efficacy due to those pesky laws of thermal dynamics...
