Had some fun inthe desert this weekend. Thanks again to Andy and Lisa for the hospitality and a great time.
On to the pics.
Here's Andy on the entrance waterfall on Snake Bait...

The waterfall was really difficult. I finally made it out of it with a little winching and some dents to the top of my right front fender and and C pillar/roof area.
Here I am climbing out of the bowl where the waterfall leads you...
picture.JPG

Then a little ways up the trail I got hung up on my window in a tight spot...
picture.JPG

Luckily, with a couple rocks and a lot of pushing I was ablt to drive out with just some scratches.
Here I am on the next obstacle, needless to say this line didn't work...

Here's Andy heading into where I got hung up on my window...
picture.JPG

...he got his door handle and came oh so close to scratching his purdy paint!

On Saturday we headed to Ballarat and the Panamints. They had gotten a bit of rain a few days before...
picture.JPG

We headed up Pleasant Canyon and it was really over grown. Looked like no one had been up there for some time...
picture.JPG

Lots of water was coming down the trail...
picture.JPG

We had lunch at an old mining operation...
picture.JPG

Lots of cool old junk to check out...

Once again a great weekend of rock crawling and exploring. Always nice to head out to the desert, especially when the wether is so nice.

very cool.

I've only heard brief references to these trails in the past, what city are they closest to? Bakersfield? farther south?

Looks like you almost pulled a Phil on that window, then you too could be windowless and hatchless in the winter

Thanks Dave.

Brett, there's a ton of trails out there in, around, and near Panamint Valley. PV is about 45 minutes Northeast of Ridgecrest.

Here's the rest of the pics, scrool to the bottom for the album... My Pictures.

Panamint Valley is roughly an hour northeast of Ridgecrest, or about 2 hr 45 min northeast of Bakersfield.

I'm jealous...

While the wheeling looks fun -- the views, scenery, and history look to be the best part by far.

Great pics, Jes.

Looks like a fun trail. Did you guys make it to the end?

Paul

No, it was already late afternoon by the time we got done with about a third of the trail and it'll need another solid day of work to complete it.
The upper section is really steep and nasty looking. Hard to say how difficult it will be untill we get a vehicle up in there.

Great pics Jes. Looks like you guys had a blast.

Jes, Had a great time. Bit HOT for October trail work :sunshine: ..

It's been in the low 30's with the wind chill here during the day. :shiver:

Looks like fun, Jes.

Did you guys get to check out the night life in Trona?

That place is legendary.
