So pretty much just wanted to say hey all, just registered here and look foward to being active on here.

That being said, i've used the search function and to prove it here are the two threads i've found on this topic which didn't quite conclude my issue.

My question here is if i were to go rattle can, which is best fit to do the job on the axles and also the coils. I'm guessing i shouldn't use the same paint on both because the coils will flex and chip quickly? -- or -- raise the budget and not rattle can it (Some suggest POR/Epoxy)?

Axles If i were to rattle can, most either say Rustoleum Hammered or Protective Enamel.
Coils Really don't have the slightest clue which paint would be best suited here. Otherwise I'd use same paint but only leave a thin coat.

Thanks

A lot of people here use POR 15 on everything. Seems like a pain in the butt to me, I recommend the Rustolium. The POR-15 seems kind of hit or miss. Either it sticks like glue or peels/chips off quickly. 'Could be prep, or improper mixing/contamination of mixed product. The Rustolium goes on, stays on, and is easy to touch up. Anywhere it doesn't stick(usually oil contamination/poor prep cleaning) can be scraped sanded, and re-painted in about 10 minutes. Not sure what people use for springs. I always used spray Rustolium and just accepted the inevitable cracks/chips.

I've used something like POR called Chassis Saver (cheaper version), on my subframe and undercarriage with great results. You'll want to prep whatever you're doing, make sure every bit of dust dirt oil etc. will be off before you coat.
Coils are kinda hard to paint obviously due to the flexing they do, but you can try rattlecanning them, or maybe get a quote on having them powder coated? Hm, I wonder how latex paint would do if it was primered good, latex paint is flexible, right?

Yeah i've pretty much been convinced to not use POR as i was debating from hearing great things. For the price my budget just doesn't meet it. Looking like Rustoleum rattle can.

Rust-opium
If you not going to prep very good be sure to wipe the parts down with a pre wipe or prep sol or equal.
Rust-opium in quartsis also a great product.
Whats gray and comes in quarts?

Well I'm using an angle grinder with a wire wheel. After its all cleaned up i'm using a metal primer followed by many coats of paint.

I'm debating to use a gloss coat as a final but haven't looked into it much if its even worth it.
