Official PDX/Vanc Thanksgiving run @ TSF thread

Are the tires packed with mud or are they just as bald as my head? Thats to bad I just sold a good running 93 ho with 99 axles for $500.00

thats a hell of a deal

I had a great time this weekend. Got in a lot of wheeling, and 3 nights of camping. I was shocked at the turnout we had on Saturday, something like 22 rigs overall. The group I took was pretty diverse. We had two Cherokees, two Range Rovers, a TRD, D90, and a Zuk. I should have some pics/videos up tomorrow.

RlCHARD CRANlUM[/b]]Major carnage, but no injury for my brother in law Roger.

I'm really shocked after seeing the video. I thought it was a slow roll off the bank before the turn. I had no idea he went off the rock.

If you guys need any help fixing it up let me know. I'll be more than happy to help get it back on the trails.

I had a great time. Wish I could have been up there multiple days, but one day was plenty of fun. Big thanks to the guys who helped me out of my little predicament, and to our fearless trail leaders

Hey Dustin, a friend of mine wants to know how you like those tires in the slop. I thought they weren't too bad, just small

BFG AT's are highly underrated in my opinion. They're awesome for a daily driver / weekend warrior. They seemed to do really well this weekend, but it's also hard to judge because of the front locker. With thick mud they will clog easily, but so will most other non Interco tires. I think the main key to tire performance is airing down. I have over 20K miles on mine and they still have over 50% tread. I seriously considered getting them in a 33 or 35, but I know I'll want a little more bite for the harder lines.

I've always found the AT to be a pointless step for any reason other than cost. The MT is much more off-road capable and extremely well road mannered, so I just always figured might as well step up.

How much for the 96?

Talked to the Boss, he wants to sell it unfixed for $3000, with approximately $3500 in aftermarket goodies on it. Basically just wants what we added into it, and isn't considering the $3800 we spent buying it.

I'm making some for sale posts now.

We're glad to have your expertise on tire knowledge around here. Anything else you don't like about Dustin and his rig?

Yeah, I don't like that he's white or that his Jeep is blue.

(...is confused, I thought we were talking tire, not Dustin)

For the record Dustin and I are pretty well acquainted as friends. And I'm no tire expert.

Well you managed to shoot down his opinion like he doesn't know WTF he's talking about.

That's not the way I see it.

I see it as he offered his opinion on a tire, and I offered additional opinion. He said the tire performs well, and is underrated. I wouldn't disagree with that. I more or less said that regardless of that, its one of those might as well take the next leap up if you've got the budget. There's no requirement that he and I see it eye to eye. That's the beauty of free will.

I'll take a BFG A/T over the M/T, I dont like BFG's Mud terrain, a better bang for the buck would be the Trxus M/T. Or even the TSL's,

but for an everyday use tire, the BFG A/T is an awesome tire, its got a great sidebite.
The bfg M/ts seem to wear really fast IMO.

The TrXus was a great tire too! Extremely comparable to BFG MT I think, but I think they were much better off-road.

I never thought the BFG MT wore fast though. I've seen sets still sitting at around 30% tread after about 50K miles.

My uncle had a set on his 4runner, he got about 28k out of them. never wheeled them tho. I dont know, different strokes, different folks. the design always reminded me of a generic m/t tire, with a premium price
