make sure you have mudflaps or you will fail, make sure your flares cover your tires or you will fail. make sure your steering geometry is ok and that your axle is centered (adjustable trac bar). They will also do a sniffer test and regular inspection while you are there. I had this done last year. From now on, you will have to go there everytime you need inspection so they can recheck everything. Good Luck. Also, bring something to read because you will be there a while and they make you wait outside.

Cover those mirror lights, they are anal about lights....

How'd the inspection go? I plan on putting a 2" BB on my XJ and hope they don't notice at inspection.

well i went yesterday...i failed for emmisions and driver side front wheel ball joints..everything else seemed ok...i did remove my axe/shovel and hi-lift..and all of my lights were functional and covered..

actually my luck..the check engine light just went on when i was driving to inspection..no engine mods,,,just a cat back.....

I had to go with my toyota pickup. The place I had to go was in Lodi. There was another one in south jersey somewhere.. That was in the late 80s early 90s. I passed the stability test with 9" susp./body lift and 39.5 swampers.
We had guys with 22"susp.3"body and 44s.pass.
Like the other guys said, check flares, mudflaps and suspension/steering..
Some of the Jeepers here have 4"and33s and dont need to go to the stability test..Go figure!!

Just FYI, Winslow station down by the pine barrens passed me and my brother both....me in 2002, my brother in summer 2004, with no mudflaps. at least I think my brother didn't have flaps...I will have to double check that.

nevermind, brother had flaps, but I passed without them in 2002.

I had a real simple plan this Oct. Just pull the H4's and put in standard headlights, and swap over the 225's from the DD to stay inside the flares and get the bumper closer to the ground. Worked like a charm in '02.

Then came the unusual oil consumption and the leaking slave cylinder. Compression test confirmed that #2 cylinder was waay low and, was that a wisp of smoke out the pipe? There was no way it was going to get through the line in that condition and I can just see the highly skilled inspector trying to coax the AX-15 onto the dynamometer with the cranky clutch.

Piece of crap! Couldn't get past 215K on original engine and clutch!

:D

What they make us go through in Jersey to get that damn 2 year sticker! Well, they better not fail the replacement long block we're going to put in, that should last at least until 2017.

Man,I thought I hated Utah because of there emissions tests but now I am glad we have what we do. Go in stick a sniffer hose up the pipe get the read out and go home. Don't care how bad it leaks.
