New shocks by King...

What kind of clearance does your axle have with the oil pan at bump?

Not sure on exact numbers but I know it could still go up at least 1-2" after my shocks bottom.

are you still using the stock lower mount or did you move it down to the LCA mount?
moved it down but still on the axle. Its just as low as the lca mount but stronger.

What kind of top mount?, sounds like you could fit a 12" shock.
Not to sound like a dick but if had room to run a 12 and still have some uptravel I would have done it.

Rich you have 12" KINGs right? how much lift you run for that? I have 12" Fox just trying to compare and hoping I wont regret not getting 10"

I'd for sure run a 12" shortbody.

I for sure would have but FOA didnt have any and they had the best price on 2.5" resis. Hell with my prothanes the front still does way better with 4" uptravel then the rear does with 8".

Oh I'm not knockin 10" shocks mine do great at 10". Foa's are already pretty short bodied as it is. Did you check their lengths against the others?
Pretty sure the 2.5" foas were a longer body then the kings and such.

I have photos on my phone , but i cant load them on my computer, "I"phone gotta love it, :smsoap:
anybody wanna p.m. so i can e-mail them and get them posted.

Really? Wow, when I was looking into coilovers, FOA's were the only ones as short as the SAW's, the rest had to be ordered in short body.
Not really sure to tell the truth because it was a while ago and it was the price that was the deciding factor. Like I said my front way out handles my back. I heard we might know somebody that can get us a deal on fox so maybe I will throw fox 2.5s out back, but then again its still a pretty fun dd right now.

Resurrecting the dead, but I was looking at the Fox shocks with the stem mount. For light/medium pre-running and medium trails/rocks, any downsides to the stem type mount? I'm thinking it looks like I should be able to get a longer shock, or at least have more uptravel than going with a shock conversion and a heim/joint on top. I've found them in a couple places:
http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Fox-OEM-Replacement-Shocks-for-Jeep-Vehicles-p-18183.html
http://www.quadratec.com/products/1...utm_medium=compshop&utm_source=googlemerchant

Both sites list them for the TJ, but I know they'll fit, however, if the stem mount isn't a bad idea, how does TJ lift height equate to XJ lift height when buying shocks? I plan on measuring as well, but at least these two sites list them by lift height with no mention of travel.

Thanks!
EDIT: Off-road warehouse does list the travel and has a sale on them right now, 10% off!

Oh and to answer your question, it’s just a trade off between the actual integrity of the mount for an inch of travel. IMO if you’re beating on your rig the opportunity cost is far from lucrative when you’re dealing with a shock that expensive. While I’ve never seen that type of catastrophic failure i speak of it’s not worth the gamble.

Heim mount = a mount that covers more surface area (surface area with a surface as thin as sheet metal, what is it 16 gauge?) You’re going to want to cover more than the inch or so of diameter that the main eye bushing covers. My two cents

I’ve got hairline cracks in mine and its about time I started plating and prep for the heims.

Yeah but those are only 2" shocks. Us gangsta's roll with the 2.5's yo. …Them 2.0’s are straight east coast style B.

Thats funny sh$%........
