Remove your shocks, & twist your XJ on a ramp or good trail obstacle (be careful and have a friend, who understands the process, spot your driving so you don't lose a coil or brake line), measure the shock length available at the mounts.
Go to the parts store and read the catalogs to pick the shocks for the following vehicles. Then pull the shocks out of the box and measure them in the open and closed positions to see what fits best for your XJ when it is twisted up.
Front:
87-95 Jeep YJ Wrangler (long)
or
99-01 Ford F150 4X4 (really long)
Rear:
95 Jeep ZJ (long)
85 Ford F-150 (longer)
90 Ford Ranger/Exploder 4X4 (longer yet)
The choice is yours to make...
Happy Trails!
