New Paint :) Help me decide a color...

Yes price is always a factor, cheaper is better lol. I went to 2 jobbers today. One gave me the shaft, the other was helpful. I already have a gallon of clear, reducer, and hardener. So I just have to get the primer/sealer, and basecoat. I think I'm going with the SPI epoxy primer for the base. It's around $100 for a gallon kit. So paint is the main concern here.

Finishmasters wanted $127 for a gallon of A22 Sparkling Graphite. No reducers or catalyst. In my book, that's not bad at all. OMNI too.

The other place wanted $465 for a gallon of Dupont Chromabase (kit). F that.

I also went by the bimmer dealer and checked out an M5 in A22, I think I'm sold on that :)

Will you be doing body work on the Jeep or just painting it? If just painting it there would not be a need for primer, could save some money there. Sounds about right on the Chromabase, that stuff's pretty spendy.

No I won't be doing any bodywork. That being said I've, been collecting new panels for a while. Some white, some red, some blue, but all dent free. Hence the need for a sealer.

keep ur jeep the same color and lift it!
Shea you're jeep is teh fail. Dana 35 FTW!:fuse:

I love my paint too Shea, but I hate how every body panel reflects sunlight like the Pacific Ocean. Yes I will still come wheeling with you guys, you know I love beating up nice things :)

Started cleaning out the garage today in preparation to hand the plastic and ventilation systems.

Here are some pics of the turbine that will be extracting air, and the garage in progress

220 volt, 15 amp, 1.5 HP. Should do they trick... or maybe I should just hook it up to my intake

Amber Fire Pearlcoat is a sweet color.

Ah don't show me that you're going to make me change my mind again.

I also ordered a gallon of Raptor Liner. I'm going to do all 4 wheel wells, rockers, and immediate underbody by the rockers (before the frame).

I don't know why more people haven't been using this stuff here. I looks like it totally kills herculiner in every category. Looks, durability, UV stability, it's CATALYZED and the prices are just about the same. Everyone on JF loves it.

Boy do I love that color. Speaking of which, I have a sweet pic of perhaps the biggest lifted XJ I've ever seen. I thought it was a Rusty's posterchild. I think those are 37s.

Anyway, does anyone know or can possibly show me how to Photoshop a paintjob on my Jeep? Thanks.

I've decided that if I do go blue, I'm staying with the stock color. This would let me put on the parts as I paint them (hood, header panel, doors, etc) without taking my car of the road for an extended period of time. If It's going to go in the garage under the knife, I want something totally different.

Well I've been doing a little more research on the Raptor Liner. It should be here in the next couple of days. Once I get my rockers/wheel wells done with that it will be time for primer and sealer.

Some people just have a playfest with this stuff...

Got the kit tonight, seems like it's very well put together. I did accidently order the tinatble one . Looks like I'll be color matching it hopefully it turns out nice. I'm also going to be messing around with different variations. Adding clearcoat to the mix, clearcoating after cure, over-reducing, over-hardening, that sort of thing.

I'm also going to do a side by side UV comparison with Herculiner. My dad works for a UV curing company, so I'm hoping to be able to send 2 samples through one of their machines to test it's chalk resistance. Stay tuned.
