Hey guys, Matt from the Southeast Chapter here:wave1:. I was just wanting some info about Seattle. I'm flying their in a month to visit my sister who lives in Everett, which I think is about 20 minutes north of Seattle. I wanted to know what things I should definitely see and do while I'm visiting. Cool hangouts, bars, museums, etc. I'm a big music fan, particularly rock and metal so anything relating to that is a plus. Also, if anybody plans on going wheeling at this time, would anybody be willing to let me ride along with them? I would like to see some of the nice scenery that I've seen pictures of and heard about. I'm going to try and fit in some ski time as well since I've never done it before...

You’ll have to visit the quintessential Seattle sites like Pike Place Market, take a ferry ride to one of the islands, EMP if you are into music (plus the Seattle Center is there), Snoqualmie Falls, and finally you’ll need to snowboard Stevens Pass.

Yeah, all the cool members of the AARP with their cool blue hair and their cool one-piece ski suits, and their cool denture cream, and their cool pictures of their grandkids.:roflmao:

Stevens sucks ass go to alpintal or crystal. Sick back country. PM me when your in town and we'll go wheel the sh!t out of this place. You dont want to wheel with any of the clean jeeps around here cause they wont go to the goody trails. :scared:

I was about to mention that, Crystal if you can make the drive. Alpental if you can find someone who knows the area. Stevens isn't bad if you know the good stuff. I'm up there every weekend in the Winter, I have a free pass this year so it won't be any different.

I vote Stevens, since it's closer for those of us in Everett. I'll be up every weekend this season hopefully. :) (skiing, might I add)
While your in Everett, check out the Boeing museum...it is afterall located right next to the biggest building in the world. (Boeing factory) As far as views go, check out the Mukilteo beach (2min. from Everett) for a fast and easy experience, or travel to the said locations above for the good stuff.

P.S. Let us know a date, and I'm sure you could get a group of people to go wheeling and have one of them take you.

Alpintal? Really? I think Alpintal is horrible. Ill be hitting up Stevens, and Baker pretty often, can't wait to use the new Hellbents.

Alpental does suck if you stay in the area, there's one good run that's it.

Definetly check out the EMP(Experience Music Project) at the Seattle Center.
Everett is more like an hour north of Seattle, especially with traffic.
If your going to be in Everett, I would recommend checking out a Silvertips game, even if you don't like hockey.
Lots of good bars here downtown, especially on pike and pine towards capitol hill

City Stuff:
Drive to Space Needle, valet park there. (Only $1 more than park-yourself, plus tip)
Go up Space Needle IF it's nice outside, otherwise, it's a waste.
Experience Music Project (aka EMP) if they are a music fan.
Sci-Fi Museum to get your geek on.
Walk to Pikes Place Market, or take Monorail to the mall, walk from there.
Dinner @ Chinooks @ Fishermans terminal near the fishing boats.
Museum of Flight in Seattle is cool, if you're in to airplanes of all eras. They even have an SR-71 Blackbird on Display.
Boeing factory tour / Future of Flight in Everett / Mukilteo. (Come see where some of us work)

Scenic Stuff:
Take a drive East on US-2. (Right out of Everett)
If you're in a Jeep, detour to Reiter Pit. 8-) Take the switchbacks up to the old mine shaft for a scenic view.
At night, Hwy 99 northbound into Seattle is a great view if the weather is nice.
Mt. Rainier - "Sunrise" visitors site is close to one of the Ski Resorts.
Mt. Baker
Snoqualmie Falls
Ferry Ride - scenery is nice.

Skiing:
No clue… I'm watching opinions too!

I dont see anything wrong with Stevens really. I may be bias because its my local slope and I have a pass there, but if you know where to go and when you can have one hell of a time. Though I do agree, Chrystal is a very nice resort as well as Baker...but Ive never been to Alpental.

If you say that them you have never been to the back country. I've ran all the back country I can in Washington and by far Alpintal is the bast. Steep, cliffs, rocks, drops, and the deepest snow I've ran in. Stevens does not offer this even in there back country. The mountains there are not high enough to say it has sick back country. That being said does anyone good enough want to run some back country. You have no place being back there if you think you can't handle it.

If we are talking planes also check out Paul Allen's collection at Paine Field across from the Boeing Tour base:
