Need a bolt...

Hey guys, kind of random but does anyone local have a fly wheel to crank shaft bolt for a 4.0 with a manual tranny? The dealer doesn't have them and I can't locate one any where. I'm not about to pull a tranny at PnP for one bolt. lol

Thanks,

Dunno if he has one, but 5-90 would be that guy who has stuff that he doesn't need like that.

What's the length under the head? I know they're threaded 1/2"-20, and I know they're place bolts (standard hex head stuff won't work,) but if you let me know what the dimensions are, I can look up alternate applications and see what can be found (screws for the flexplate for a Pontiac V8 work for auto transmission applications for the 6-242. Should be able to find something similarly workable once I know the length I'm working with.

It will be the length from the tip of the screw to the underside of the head.

"Place bolts" are designed to clamp against shear loads, while the typical hex head is not. This is why a hex head screw won't work. And, it's fairly uncommon to find place bolts in that thread and that short - so it may take some digging. Finding an alternate application will help find them in the aftermarket.

No, I don't have any floating around (and I prefer to not reuse them anyhow.) And, if one has failed, just replace all six - cheap insurance.

Cool thanks, once I get to work on Monday I'll see what the dimensions are and try to use that part number to see if I can find something. My buddy stripped a bolt when he took everything apart so obviously this is holding up the project.

Either way, I'd appreciate knowing the underhead length of those screws - no-one has told me yet...
