My PO is a POS

Have to ask - were your Brown Dog mounts using rubber or poly bushings? I'm guessing poly, though.
.

Nope, my Brown Dogs have the rubber bushings.
Maybe the MORE mounts used a softer rubber.

The BD rubber bushing is fairly small, with little room to move and absorb vibrations.
I played with them for over a year and they never did quiet down, even with a lot of tries at adjusting them.
I never expected them to be as quiet as a stock mount but it got annoying listening to every noise the engine made. I did like the more solid feeling driveline with the BDs.
I switched back to a good set of OEM mounts and have not had a problem...and my XJ does get used a lot off road, I just don't beat it, as many of our trips are a 1000 miles or more from home.
I do inspect the mounts, along with a lot of other stuff, before each trip.

If you are going to hammer your Jeep, definitely go for the BD mounts, if you are are a bit more sensible, good stock mounts will work fine, just keep an eye on them.
It all depends on how you use your Jeep.
Make sure the trans mount is in good shape too.

Could be. Also, the bushings in my MORE mounts are fairly large - the picture on their website shows "CLEVITE48D" embossed into the rubber, so they may provide more cushioning than the BD ones.

But if the OEMs are working for you, then stick with them - in my case I was at the point where I was killing a set of those almost every time I went out on the trails and wanted something that I could put in and forget about. The MORE bombproof ones were my solution.

Bi*tch, Bi*tch, Bi*tch, LOL, this is my pride and joy an 85 franken jeep with wiring from hell and transplanted Nissan 1981 SD-22 diesel power train.

Here is the recent dash work LOL

But don't laugh, it has lasted 14 years, and gets 34 mpgs :-) Engine is barely broken in.

I've seen where somebody did that with a bolt from the axel housing.

My first XJ I got it from a body shop, but I don't think they did it but the front grill signal bezels was a spin the wheel for what type of screw or bolt would be there.
I heard the previous owner Taichung at a vo tech school.

Taichung, is that a new Asian fighting discipline?

Ahhh, I see Daniel son. Lol

A wood screw =( How can someone take that little pride in their car.

Some people have no pride in anything period. House, yard, body, clothes.

Some people have lives, or mearly wish to repair something good enough to punt the jeep onto the next sucker!

YOU BOUGHT IT!

Yep, a project is a good thing. See Ecomike's post. :sunshine:

To be fair, I am having fun putting it back together.

I understand that. I found mine in a barn, on a farm, with most of the guts in the bed, but with no rust, no paint, bald tires, no bumpers. $400, delivered to my shop on a flatbed. My wife just about s#!t !!

For mostly off-road, hard core use, get them, For mild use, stock mounts, in good shape, will serve you well.

In 6 years I've only changed my stockers twice...less than a half hour.

Bi*tch, Bi*tch, Bi*tch, LOL,

My wife is jealous of my Jeeps.

"You spend more time under those things than you do me" !! :yap:

Pride comes in many forms. Mine comes in saving cash and using duct tape any chance I get LOL.

Others take pride in noisy ass add ons, low rider tires in swamp/flood city Houston, Huge exhaust pipes that do nothing but look cool to kids that have not grown up yet, and stripes that do nothing useful, LOL.

Screws? Hell if it ain't broke, and it works, don't fix it.

I take pride as an engineer in testing my skills to see how long, how many miles and years I can get out of an old beast like 85 Diesel franken jeep. How long can I keep it running.

You have more will power than I do. If my wife offers to go for a ride, I'd be inside in a second!

LMFAO!!!!:sunshine:

Being single I have a lot more time for my junk, LOL.

LOL. Glad somebody got the subtle joke.

Ive seen worse from used rigs, but I always thoroughly inspect every XJ. Id catch a busted motor mount in a heart beat. But I buy 3-5 XJs a year, so I'm used to it.

Well, seeing as how I'll be 64 on my next birthday...I guess you could say I have more will power than you.

:wow:

Damn, we are getting old faster than our antique jeeps.

What do you do with all of them?
