will ya still drive it to the trails some? i kinda hate the idea of not being able to drive my rig on the road. i like the looks i get when i drive some monstrosity and get looked at like i'm nutz.

eh maybe to woolys once in awhile...but really...i like trailering it, then i dont have to worry about breakage...i can hit all the trails without wondering if ill make it home. besides, its not much fun to drive it on the highway...the flowmaster is pretty obnoxious above 40mph.
yea, matt did a kickass job welding the spider gears. lets just never again use the walmart brand brake cleaner, especially near an open flame...

that cage looks a lot like ODXJ's cage from NW chapter. here's his build thread, i think they did two jeeps but each slightly different kick ass roll cages.

finished the mechanical fan pulley delete:
shorter belt:
here's the correct sized belt for anyone else interested in doing this:
80.25" to 80.5" fits perfect. this one is off of a 1999 ford contour 2.0 without a/c.
im also now in the market for an a/c delete pulley if anyone has one. ill be removing all the a/c junk pretty soon, and i just found out my heater core is bad and leaking coolant...so ill be swapping a new one in soon.

some progress made on a few projects...
pile of crap removed:
moved the radiator about an inch forward:
had to clearance crossmember a bit for radiator filler neck:
lots more space in there now for the taurus fan:
a/c is gone as well:
dash removed...a/c and heat box gone as well:
had a mess of wires to go through...removed quite a few and cleaned up the rest:
oh yes, those are lime green zip ties...
much more to come in the next few days...

you should sell the dash to one of us with the older style that doesn't like it! a ton of people would like to update their interior... not me of course, but lots of others! i have some guages i'd sell pretty cheap, if you're interested. i decided not to use them. i have a tach, voltmeter, and oil pressure guage, all mechanical... all you'll need is a temp guage.
EDIT: i like the obvious footprints on the firewall! lets me know you took that thing out right! har har har....

used an angle grinder on the black plastic vent section...the front plastics are fine. i thought about putting back in my stock guages, but i think i will go with some aftermarket guages...ill give you a call about those guages eric

ok...here's some more...
stock heating fan mounted to box:
inside shot:
heater core installed in box as well:
shroud for the taurus fan:
mounted:
dash mostly installed:
center console back in and mounted external cb speaker:

did a bit more...hiding wires, ziptie-ing etc.
still have to finish the wire routing, mount 3 switches, wire up the fan and relay, mount the heater box, run new 5/8" hose to it, and route some flexible tubing for the hot air to run through. ill be firing her back up tomorrow!

for now ill just temporarily mount the stock gauges, but probly after the flog i will install a tranny temp, coolant temp, and voltage on the top section. bout all i need

well here's what ive been dealing with on and off over the past few days:
5 codes pulled from the check engine light! man that scanner comes in handy haha...
P0132 - 02 sensor high voltage
P0138 - 02 sensor high voltage
P0090 - fuel pressure circuit
P0100 - Mass air flow circuit
P0400 - EGR
lots of fun. found a vacuum line that wasnt capped (knew i forgot to do something...) so i put a cap on it. cleaned my grounds around the engine, cleaned the air filter/intake/throttle body. also made my intake tube shorter...air should get into the engine a little better. took out the 02's, they look fine, wires look fine, so wiped them off and reinstalled. about to make a run to a car wash and pressure wash the underside...we'll see if any codes come back on.
