It looks like it! But the 2x4 is really thick walled compared to the 2x2.

yeah it's 2x4 and 2x2, the 2x4 is 1/4" and the 2x2 is 1/8". and the middle " skid " is going to be 1/4 and the rest 1/8

looks like a good start! better then i could do! like stated, the Shackle loops look a little scary. I think theyr sagging with just the weight of the shackles? and they dont look Centered?

haha yeah they're not sagging i just had the shackle sitting there so it wasnt level. and yeah they're centered and are going to be 3/4" thick when im done.

Your mockup kinda looked like mine when I started. I just used a piece of 3x5x1/4 scored it bent it welded it up and viola you're done. I got atozfabrications d-rings and they are welded to the bumber and the bumper mount

oh and heres some pics i took today when i got bored of what i got done last night.

Looks good man, I like it so far. I think once you get all the welds ground down like that first one and painted, it will look even better.

got a little more done today. and also made some changes. it's done done still need to beef up the clevis ring mounts, and get/ bend the "prerunner bars" then do light tabs. and yeah i know the welds arent that good looking i had quite the gap i had to fill up that was a pain in the ass so they were function over looks. and doesnt matter to me it's not a mall crawler haha.

well with the money i had this was all the metal i could get had so had to make it work. when i chop it up for a winch im going to chop those and add some that go all the way back.

the d-ring tabs aren't finished yet but when they are they are going to be 3/4" thick

If you plan on using that for recovery...isn't it kinda important to have the brackets go back further now, and not later?

It's your Jeep, but I would never tug anything that doesnt at least go to the bolt hole in the back in addition to the stock points.

looks good, but here is some thoughtful advice, take it as you may.

if all you have are stock mounts for now, fine. when you can get some plate too make proper frame mounts (further back for more bolts) than simply drill a few more holes in what you have now and use the 3 stock plus 2 more to attack the frame plates to both the frame and the bumper.
My frame plates stay on the frame, but my bumper is bolted to it with 5 bolts per side, makes for easier removal when I want to work on the front end. no need to remove the plates, which means no steering box problems.

as for the welds, grab a few grinding wheels and cheaper angle grinder and grind them smooth. that way you see no welds, and it makes everything look that much cleaner.

ok so just to make sure you mean like sandwiching it or just drilling and putting more bolts where i have currently? pics maybe?
