My "Hero" Blog

I have the iro leaves too. Can't say I am impressed. First trip on them I bent the passenger side pretty good. I have adjustable shackles and I had to max out the shackle to make up for the flattened pack. It still sits an inch lower on that side. The pack is bent rite at the end of the shims between the leaves in the center. I'll have to see about that warranty.

Dang!! I havent had any troubles with mine yet. They are more on the stiff side and definitely dont flex like coils but besides that i like them

I was pulling a m100 trailer on the trail and it was the only time I have ever heard the rear tires rub. But they do work well and the 10% extra stiffness helps

Heres a pic of my iro 3.5in leafs for you guys:

I also have my shackles on backwards... :/
Still have to fix that

I pretty sure their springs might be flat I the middle like that. I know some BDS springs do that. My friends BDS springs on his CJ have that flat area. Kinda weird but if it works it works I guess

Had a conversation with both iro and bds today. While iro warranty might not be as forgiving with bent leaves they have a full replacement warranty over sagging and warping. Didnt ask bds about bent leaves. But bds did blatantly state that it doesnt matter what the other components of your lift are even if that missmatch of components causes damage. Iro stated specifically that if you dont use the right shackle setup, and it bottoms out, bent leaves are not warrantied.

Iro springs are also longer than stock. Requiring a boomerang spring or lift style relocation brackets to work. They give and actual 3.5" of lift plus a 1" boomerang shackle. Giving you a totall of 4.5" minimum.

Bds springs are not longer than stock. They will work with a stock shackle and will give 3" of lift when used in the stock location with stock shackles.

Being that you are switching to no lift relocators at 4.5" you could go either way. I am going with bds because of the length difference. Im only looking for a max of 4". Since iros will not work with stock shackles they will not work for me. I can dial in with shackle length and angle with the bds so they are the winner for me.

Just thought id pass my findings along.

I have IRO 3.5" leafs and they do that as well. I was on another forum and someone asked IRO about it and they said it's perfectly normal. I haven't had any complains with mine though, other than they sit a litter higher than what I was going for.

Does anybody with IRO keaf springs have a picture of their shackle angle without relocation brackets? If I could get away with just running the stock mount and still have good angles, I'd be down with that.

I can send ya a pic of mine tomorrow, but again my boomerangs are on backwards.....

They say it requires a boomerang shackle, to prevent the shackle hitting the back of the shackle box. Supposedly the longer spring gives you a proper angle at ride height.

I believe this

Well I finaly uploaded some pics of the last rubicon run. It was a total shitshow but such a good time. I overheated the entire time. It was horrible.

I'll start this with a picture of John broken on soup bowl :P

Then a picture of me broken, stuck, and overheating on the dam at buck. I let my friend Connor drive and he put it here and broke my passenger front shaft. 'Twas a good time though.

Soup bowl. Video to come. I used lots of skinny pedal to do it and gollee was it fun

Then off to buck. Overheated somewhere along the way and pulled my grill. Which did nothing.

Boiled over again and pulled the AC condenser for more air flow at the bottom of big sluice.. All while being a massive trail plug.

Then climbed up Cadillac in a massive rain storm and then out to tahoe

Aired up and hit the road and then blew a ujoint by emerald bay. Swapped it out on the side of the road on Sunday at midnight. Drove back to Sacramento and got home at like 3am.

On Saturday morning on the rubicon my girlfriend hurt her knee but hung with us all weekend. I took her to the hospital Monday morning and it turned out she dislocated her knee and then tore her miniscus. Had to have surgery last week and has a recovery time of 9-12 months.

Total carnage for the group:
Blown transmission at the granite bowl
2 front shafts
Blown up Driveshaft CV
Broken driveshaft ujoint straps/bolts x2
Torn MTR kevlar sidewall
Overheating/AC condenser
Bent crossmember causing the driveshaft to rub the floorboards
My buddy tried wheeling in to meet us at buck and blew up his rear end
1 iPhone 6
Busted knee
Probably some more that I blocked out of my memory

All in all it was a uhhhh interesting trip but I had a good time and can't wait to out again on the 21st-23rd!

What a memorable trip... For various reasons haha. You've got one tuff chick to keep hanging with all that mess with her knee.

The potato might have spat the rear shaft twice but it made it home by 5:30ish in the am haha. Can't wait to go again!
