My "Hero" Blog

Well I made it out to Prairie City for the Toys for Tots run. Brought all of my camera gear and bags to keep the camera dry, but never used it... so no pics. I had a great time out there!

Only problem that I found with my jeep is it leaks... a lot. It turns out I have 2 gaping holes at my quarter panel cut-n-fold that let a bunch of water in, and where my CB antenna pops through my hatch leaks too. My trunk area is soaked. When i get home for Thanksgiving (headed home today), Ill pull everything out and try to air it out. Maybe Ill just cut the carpet out... :dunno:

Luckily, the where the cage pops through the roof doesn't leak at all!

I have a few other things to go over on the heep as well while I'm home. It's had a rough season.

That is all.

I hope all of you that read this (and those who don't) have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Well I bought some bucket seats off of my buddy a few months ago. I'm in finally getting around to putting them in. What a pain in the butt.

I have to make a tube subframe for each seat. Each subframe is welded to the floor in three spots and to the roll cage in one spot. I will add gussets once I get my dimple dies in. Only have one side done so far.

I have new matching seat covers in the mail.

Now for the other seat and then the harness bar and x behind the seats!

looks good man!! you should get some fabric paint and paint them black

looking good. just clean all of the grease off?

Thanks guys! I won't be painting/dying the seats or even cleaning them. I have new seat covers shipping today (hopefully) and they should look blingin once I put them on!

It's a pain to get into/ out of though. But so worth it.

^ Jelly Bro. Super Jelly.

Thanks josh!

I got both seats mounted. New seat covers came in too but I want the harnesses and X done before I put them in.

I also have been getting some crazy vibes on the highway. Pulled my front driveshaft and its done.

Does anybody have an AX-15 front driveshaft I can buy off them?

Ive been super busy with work and friends, but I made a little progress on the cage last night. Built a harness/shoulder bar and squeezed it in. It fits super tight and hugs the back of my new bucket seats. I dig it.

Once I get that burned in, ill figure out how to mount the 5pt crow harnesses and then build a fancy little x behind the seats.

Looks like I got the itch to start fabbing again, so progress should pick up again soon. Hoping to have the cage and a new front bumper completely done by the time I go back to school in 2 weeks! Not likely, but I need a goal. We will see!

Looks really good kev.

Looking at this, it seems I could scoot my seats back a few more inches by raising my B pillar cross bar to the head rest height like you did. Right now a few more inches to stretch my legs would be awesome . I am 6'1 and my knees are killing me after a long weekend of wheeling due to the seat being too far forward.

I guess Ill need to buy another piece 1.5" .120 DOM and borrow Billys Tube bender soon....

The top of the harness is supposed to be level to 10 degree downward angle from your shoulders, do your shoulders sit that high on the headrest? As always your fab work looks awesome.

Thanks guys!

Jon, I'd do it if I were you. If you start it in a few weeks I may be back in sac for school if you need a hand.

Zach, my shoulders sit pretty darn high. I think the bar will have to come down just a tad. I just had it in there to make sure it fit. Now I have to figure out how to get eyelets welded on there for my harnesses.

thanks mike, and yah zach, it has been fine until I put the bar behind the seats and the B pillars , now my knees hurt, something to think about for anyone building a hybrid cage.

So much for a headrest for u tall guys.

Seriously. These race trim seats are pretty tall too... The head rest hits my head at the same spot as the factory seats. Most other bucket seat headrests (corbeau's for example) stop at the bottom of my neck, which is no bueno.

I recently sold my front bumper to Johnnie Walker, so I've been forced to whip a new one together before I go back to school. After getting hung up on my front bumper in the box on the rubicon and a few other places, I decided that I wanted to make something that doesn't stick out as far past the front bumper. I wanted it wrapped tight to the grill so that my approach angle would be the best it could be.

This is what I have so far.

And then there's some bling I've been working on for the front end as well..
