My "Hero" Blog

im jealous . i havent wheeled in daylight in a long time.

Wheeled Slick Rock a few weeks ago but didnt get any pictures..

Wheeled the con again this past weekend and had a blast! Went in Loon and camped by the box. Connor and I hiked in to Buck to find the rest of the NAXJA crew but they already broke camp, so we caught up to them near the bottom of Big Sluice.

Once we got back to camp, we packed up and I attempted the Box before we left. I took the strap 2 times and exited just to the right of pivot rock. Im SOO glad I was able to get in the box before they started to blow it up. I had a killer time.

Connor got a few pics:

Eric's (Famwgn's) girlfriend has a bunch of video and pics of it. Hopefully I'll have those to post up soon!

We got to the main road just as the sun was setting, which was a perfect way to finish off the day!

Only carnage was a fat dent in my gas tank. My tank probably holds about a gallon less than usual and doesn't want to let me fill it up. It took my roughly 20 minutes to get 5 gallons of fuel in. I have to pull the black rubbery thing on the pump handle back and let the gas trickle into my tank. If I try to fill up normally, it just clicks. Anybody have a spare tank sitting around?

Also got my first scratch. Leaned the passenger back door into a rock. Ill try to grab pics this weekend.\

I also must have hit my front driveshaft on a rock or something because now it doesnt vibrate on the highway!

Overall it was a killer trip. The trail was almost empty saturday morning and was very peaceful. Hopefully I can make it back up there in a few weeks!

Thats awesome. I am pissed I wasnt there. Although I might go up sat night.......

oooh. when in a few exactly? id probably be down to go...

Not sure yet. Im planning on going to skippers Slickrock run. So now that i think about it, it wont be for a while probably. If the weather holds up, ill be taking my girlfriend through there in early november. She LOVES it up there and is coming back from school to run it one more time before the snow hits.

Bummed you missed it too! Have a good time up there, I wont make it.

Im sticking around this weekend to clean up my heep. Its filthy and hasnt been cleaned in a while. Ill also be sealing up the holes in the roof before we get any rain. Needs a bunch of paint before the scrapes start to rust. Ill hopefully get a new gas tank and install it. Maybe figure out some sort of leaf clamp. Just some small stuff.

I might try to make it up sometime between Skippers SR run, and when I go up in November. Its just so awesome up there!

I got a few more pictures off of my buddies phone from the box run.

Looks like a great time with good weather. I hope the weather holds for two more weeks.

I did a few things last weekend on my Jeep.

- I finally installed a new gas tank (one that fills up). Big thanks to Jake for the free tank!
- Sealed the holes in the roof where the cage pokes through. I used some black RTV. If it cracks or breaks seal, ill put another thicker bead on it, and if that doesn't hold, I will sandwich the roof with plates like Erics cage.
- Rotated my tires... still have a weird wobble on the highway.
- Mounted 2 of my 3 new (to me) fancy fancy chinese L.E.D lights to my bumper. Got them from a buddy for a steal. Just couldn't pass it up.
- Straightened out my fanned out leaf springs and figured out a way to capture them. My drawings are on a plate ready to be cut out.

Just a few small things. Only a few more small things to do and I'm good to go again!

No progress has been made on the cage. Waiting until I get some more spare time.

Come winter time (winter break), I plan on selling our inherited oxy-acetylene torches/accessories and hope to purchase a cheapo plasma cutter. Found a place to get one locally and DIRT cheap. Stoked!

I bought his suspension seats and 5 pt harnesses for dirt cheap as well!

Went up 80 on Saturday to play in the snow. Had roughly 2 ft of fresh dry powder on fordyce lake road. Best snow wheeling trip to date!

Jeep did great and I can't wait to go back!

How far did you guys make it?

We made it to here. Somewhere around a mile to two miles from Fordyce lake. We didn't want to go down this hill because we didn't want to risk not making it back up. Ner been pat that point so we didn't know what to expect.
