My Green Machine Blog

Hey Illustrated, apparently I fail at PM'ing, just letting u know I got the message...sounds good

Alright so finally a new update on my blog...
I met some friends up at Fallen Leaf Lake up near Tahoe and up a little dirt road I found a nice rock that I couldn't resist...

It's the Green Machine's biggest rock so far, many more to come
Tomorrow I'm going to install some marker lights on top...pics to come

I think I saw your Jeep parked near the "Y" over the weekend and may have passed you while driving on Fallen Leaf Lake road - you were headed in the direction of the marina. I was in my stock '93 XJ...white and silver. :wave1:

I was up there camping at Fallen Leaf lake. Ended up at Twin Peaks on Monday morning. Nice little off road area that was perfect for a stock XJ.

Oh cool, I wish I could have recognized you and said hey...

Here are some pics from the new marker light install. I'm not proud this took me about 8 hours...there was problem after problem, 2 fuses blew and connectors failed to make a decent connection. Don't hire me to do electrical work... haha. The hardest part was getting the interior fabric/foam down far enough without damaging and creasing it so I could connect the wires that were way too short already. The side plastic panels that run along the window and windshield is nearly impossible to take off without breaking, I broke both clips that held part of it on but it looks fine. I bypassed the fuse and switch the package gave me to simplify the project.

Haha just noticed the Frog's trail damage at PC in this pic, left side on the rear bumper^^
Here you can see the screws and the incredibly short black wire I had to connect to, soldering was impossible.

Now the fabric sags a little under the visers, not too noticeable though

Here's the line I tapped into: The brown wire goes to one of the two filaments in each bulb that's on when the running lights are on, I was going to rig the side two lights to blinkers, but soon found it was impossible unless the kit had dual filament bulbs :/

Finally done:

I also installed my switch for disengaging the annoying beep when the keys are in in the ignition, I hid it pretty well I think, it sits right behind the hood latch:

i need to do this to my junk. where are the wires to cut into?

I have some extra pics and info on the first page of the blog, but when you take off the kick panel there is a connector with 3 wires, the middle wire (at least on the '99 and '01) causes the beep, and can be cut and bypassed. If you disconnect the entire connector the beeping will stop, however your dome lights will not turn on when the driver's door is open.

thanks for the info.
i tow my xj behind my motorhome & the beeping drives me batshit crazy! :jester:nothing bad happens if i just cut the center wire then?

Nope, just wrap it up and you'll be fine

Prairie City this weekend? I need to test out my TC linkage before the Poker Run.

I also want to bounce on more rocks and damage my rear bumper to justify a new Stage 3 JCR Offroad with tire swing.

Yess! I want to find out how much and where my front fender is rubbing, and possibly fix it. Anyone else?

You should set up a new thread for this on the general SC forum.

By the way, I pulled you off a rock last time we were there. It is your turn to pull me. I plan on getting stuck, so bring a strap for me.

I'd say so, even if most of the park was off-limits. I found some things I need to fix before the Poker Run.

Here's the gang:
