my excuse for a stroker

well these are a bit old, was going through my computer organizing a lot of pictures, figured I would post them here. These are clickable thumbnails, click them for the larger version:

broken #6 connecting rod. Happened 4k mi after a major hydro incident. Motor was cleaned and flushed out twice. Ran with no ticks or powerloss right up to the break. Notice that the rod is slightly twisted.

hole made in side of the block, just below the cylinder bore on #6. It also stamped the shape of the rod into the oil pan in a few places. Punched one out clean.

This was on my 50k mi or so old reman from napa. It was a great motor up till this point

New Stroker! 1992 block, same head with a valve job and some port matching. .06 over with a reman 4.2 crank and hardened rods. 4.7

top view same motor. 99 intake in there too, with some 24lb Lt1 injectors. And I will be getting rid of the crappy cheap intake.

Just figured I would share. I am hoping to find some more pictures of the actual build. I am also hoping to be making another of these shortly for the MJ

at this point that motor has 15k miles on it with no issues. and if you look at the cone filter you can tell that it is bent. That is because I was washing the motor and put a plastic bag on it to keep it dry. The vacuum this motor produces sucked it almost flat. I was able to bend it back out that far.

quite a bit. It was ok before with the 33's, a stock motor, and 3.55 gears but not great. I was doing a lot of highway driving on the weekends so the extra mileage was cool. The added torque of the stroker made it feel like it was stock again. And shortly after I got an amazing deal on a "like new" 1991 cherokee that was identical in everything but color. The stroker pulls better and felt stronger with the 33's, and 4 passengers, than the stock did on normal tires with just me. I was very happy with it. Mileage went up a few points as well.

block came from a local u pull it, head was reused (my boss did a valve job on it for me, he also checked all spring heights and pressures, setting everything back to stock, he needed to hone up his skills for race season), crank came from advance auto, as did all the gaskets and misc stuff (at the time I worked there). Cam was inspected then reused. Rods came from ebay.

Lowrange - that paint color is Chrysler Industrial Red, It was sprayed with Duplicolors Engine Enamel from Advance Auto

so the entire build was pretty cheap and fairly easy is what im hearing?

definatly, my budget from start to finish cost right around $1600. That included buying a new oil pan, and some other extras that were not needed, as well as a few cases of beer and some pizza. For comparison, when I worked at advance i could get a reman 4.0 for right around the same price. With my discount, and assuming I bought all the same random extras, the prices almost even out. And I thought it was a very simple and strait forward build.

I am still looking for pictures of the actual motor build. I have no idea where they are or where they got downloaded to. I am gonna be a little sad if they are gone
