my 2 door chopped build thread...

Looking pretty damn good dude, something about the 2-dr's that look so much better than a 4-dr chopped...

Not a huge fan of the rear lighting setup to be honest. They seem a little thrown in there just to be done with it, and crooked. Just seems to detract from the rest of a well-done rig IMHO. Other'n that I love your rig dude.

that came out great! nice work. i like your license place mout idea in the rear, i may steal that!

thanks! i really appreciate it.

i was hoping no one would notice the crooked holes. hahaaha yeah it kind of was a half assed get it done thing. i didn't pay attention to how much i was cutting out and it kind of limited my light options, well using the lights i had anyway. i've been tossing the idea around of redoing them and kind of angling them back towards the cab a bit. but that won't be for a bit. i'll just live with it for now.

yeah that was a last minute idea because i haven't built the cover for my tank yet. but i do like it. i just need to add a locking hitch pin for the time being. and maybe some quick connects for the license plate lights.

i have a reciever on my front bumper, which i was considering stealing your idea for, since i dont have a good place for the plate otherwise. that'll make it easy to just pull the plate off when i go wheeling.

yup, that's what i was thinking. as long as your local law enforcement don't comment on it because it isn't permanently mounted to the vehicle.

having a front plate is the law here, but i've been driving around without one for about 8 years without so much as a mention of it, so i doubt i'll have too many problems being mounted that way.

hahaaha...

lucky you've dodged the bullet so far. i've found as long as you drive like a sane human being and abide by all the traffic laws the po-lice won't mess with you.

wow I just read all 10 pages of this thread without putting my puter down...

Really makes me feel better about my rust issues. Having my floors replaced very soon.

I need to buy a welder and start learning though. I can't imagine how much fun it would be, not to mention cheaper to do it yourself!!

Good job man.

thanks man. i don't know about fun replacing rust, but i love to build shit so that part was cool. not fun re doing all kinds of stuff.

one thing i've learned from all of this is how much i hate rust.

and now i'm going to be redoing the exhaust in the next few weeks. got a big ol crack in the header

oh yeah- not much fun getting back to "factory". But I have enjoyed chopping fenders and whacking out the quarters.

Cool to mod, not so much to repair. I've spent a lot of time and money to fix rather than upgrade... But I guess that's the difference between us and the guys with JKs and big credit card bills...:explosion

i dont miss that rust crap. i had enough of that when i lived in CT. thankfully most stuff is rust free out here.

so i've ordered up my new headers, cat, muffler and various exhaust tubing needed to redo everything.

one thing i was looking into doing while the header was out was replacing my motor mounts.

i've read a bit about the brown dog motor mounts, which is probably what i'll go with, but i haven't really read anything about their reinforcing brackets. anyone have any insight into this, is it worth the almost $200 more than just the motor mounts

some parts to start my exhaust soon. still need a piece of a down tube and a bung for the o2 sensor

i just wanted to let you know that i hate you so much because now i basically hafta do this to mine.... ive been debating for a while but now im suree.
DAMN YOU!

rig looks awesome though, keep it up! i wanna see how the rear flexes with that creeper joint in the back!

Sorry to bring back an old thread but any update with your rig? I've got a 2 door 97 that I'm modeling off your build. This is almost exactly what I have imagined. Any tailgate for the future?
