heading out early in the morning. This is my first 4wheeling trip out there. Camped once when I was younger but first time in the XJ SO pumped. Silver XJ colorado4x4 sticker on the windshield should be on cb channel 16 if your out there. I know were doing moab rim but thats about it. I know we have trails for the other days just not sure what they are at this point.

You gotta do Kane Creek. First trail I ever ran in moab, I loved it.

IF...... he's got the equipment to do it. I thought I read jdogg4's XJ is a fairly stock setup. Didn't I hear that trail is pretty technical toward the end with a nasty washout? Probably better ask the locals about it before running it and having to drive the long way back out.

He's setup fine, IIRC 4.5" on 32s. I did Kane with a 3.5" and 31s, open front and rear without ever needing a strap. But that was 3 years ago..............:dunno:

I think if he is set up to do the Rim, he would be fine on Kane Creek.

LOL - just noticed that he was heading out that morning so debating in this thread is kinda pointless...... :D

But for those curious about what Kane Creek looked like last year......

Pics on pages 2 and 3 have the stuff.

I ran it 3 years ago in a rental TJ on 33's and open (my old 91 XJ's water pump died in Georgetown on the way out) -- that climb out of the creek has deteriorated/eroded ALOT in the past 3 years...

We'll I made it back with no breakdowns or anything.
We got out there friday later than we wanted to, so we played around on poison spider mesa for a bit and then headed back to camp before dark.
Saturday we got up early and hit up poison spider mesa then to golden spike onto goldbar rim then out of the canyon for that. The following day we ran steel bender and messed around out in no mans land dellanbaugh tunnel and hidden spider or missing spider.

I gotta say I had a great time out there, and I can't wait to get back there. Maybe a trip in september or so.
Yep I was running a RE4.5 superflex kit on 32"BFG AT/KOs ran at 15 psi with 8.25 rear with stock 3:55 gears. The jeep did great over the passes and really well out in all that heat. I didn't get around to doing the hood vents like I wanted to, but it never gave me any problems. The tomkin Tcase skid really came in and did it's job. as for the hidden hitch reciver I run on the jeep now wow what a boat anchor. I hit it a good 10 times or so. The crack was fun but just got a bit stuck tried to different lines and then it took just a little bit of a tug to get me over it. I got really tippy and my back driver tire was about 3 feet or so in the air and I was looking at nothing but the bottom of the crack. Thought it safer to get a little tug than press my luck.
we then ran steelbender the fallowing day. Stayed at moab rim campsite it was a great place to stay and would recomend it to anyone. They had tent camping popup camping rv spots. Clean showers and restrooms everything and more it really was nice to have a good day on the trail come back to camp for a hot shower and bar-b-q and beers and call it a day. Made the trip well worth it.

Hmmmmm. Maybe October? Maybe for NAXJA's Fall Fling???? :D

Glad you had a great time, can't recall ever hearing anyone complain about having to 'wheel in Moab! Steel Bender is a awesome trail isn't it? :D

OCT. would be good aswell. If gas is about the same and I can keep it under 200 bucks again sure.

here are some pics. We have more to come but the guy in the yellow TJ lives in Iowa and not sure when I get the pics he took. He had a digi cam and camcorder with him so I hope he got some good footage. His buddy was running that most of the time.
