I am down in the springs I have a 242 out of a 90 in my garage. Has some front bearing noise and was having issue finding a bearing\rebuild kit for it. Found the 231 that I had was much cheaper to rebuild. Long and short I have a rebuilt 231 in my jeep now and a 242 on the garage floor. Has a new chain and like I stated some front bearing noise. Have out put shaft in it is setup for RE hack and tap, which is now on my 231. Also have orginal shaft. Hit me up if it is needed.
