Lucas oil , snake oil ?

Snake oil gets my vote too. I mean if you really think about the little gear demonstrator down at autozone then you would realize that all that oil clinging to things that are trying to rotate inside an engine would create more resistance and consequently decrease horsepower and fuel economy. Not much but still why would you want to drop those two very important numbers any at all. And if it was a good thing for your oil to do what lucas does in the little gear demonstrator then what would be the point of a windage tray because that is what it prevents.

i use it every oil change in my 91 xj,every 2600 miles,but my motor has also had a spun crank bearing since i bought it 2 years ago! when i first bought it, it already had the knock,so i dont know how long it has been like that.on the first oilchange i could see the brass and other metal shavings in the oil and in the filter too(i cut it open).started to use it as a quick fix until i got the parts to fix,but the parts still sit in the boxes they came in, and my jeep runs every day,no noticable loss of power (as compared to the 92 i just picked up), and i abuse the hell out of this truck at least twice a month on a "paper"road out in the cow country of southeastern mass.
even my dad swears by it, says his van would probably be dead without it. and he's drivin a 1978 dodge van with a slant6 in it that has close to 350,000miles on it.

I swear by this stuff too. I use mobile1 synthetic n the synthetic lucas additive in my 2 Jeeps n my solo 2 road course VW Jetta race car. This stuff keeps oil where u need it when you're pulling 1G in a corner or on a stupid angle. It's great. Engines run way smoother and queiter not to mention a litle easier on fuel too. I was skepticle at first until i tired it.

Always been a little leery of the oil additives. The fuel additive works very well.
