ok, there is a trail in the lake tahoe area around blue lakes off 89. it goes from lower blue lakes through hermit valley to highway 4. anyone have any info on this trail, or heard anything about its difficulty rating?

Deer Valley Trail. Searching should get you some results.

If the Deer Valley trail is this trail, the hardest part is near the beginning off of the Highway 4 side. There are some steep climbs with loose dirt and rocks. I'd probably take my stock '00 XJ without traction aids through it, but I'd expect too have to be strapped in a couple of spots. If you're coming through the 89 side, the part I'm talking about here you'd be going down, which would be much easier.

Thanks for the info guys.

well i ran it from 89 side to 4. and i know what your talking about at the end, if this is the trail. the end(highway 4 side) is pretty steep and has some good drop offs. I dunno about a stocker, my cherokee has a BB although still stock with 235s id definately want some good skids. I had rockers and a front diff guard and thats it. My rockers are pretty beat up, just scrapes no dents. and my front diff guard saw a little rock action. got a pretty good dent in my rear quarter panel. i would think youd want at least 31s and good skids to avoid damage. Also a few times i had to take the bypasses.
