Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

You have a radio in your XJ? Wow!

I had these two things in the tailgate that made some noise once in a while, sometimes it was even music if I hit a bump right :wierd: I always thought it was magic..

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

we cant let this tread die! so I ordered my sye yesterday hopefully that will take care of my vibes or at least tell me what is wrong...

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

almost every time I had vibes it was driveshaft/U-joint related.

except that one time I had a bent axle shaft :eyes:

Nice, I did mine yesterday, I'm crossing my fingers that my vibes will be gone. The u-joints didnt look too great in the front DS i put on though, so we'll see.

What kinda winch are you getting for christmas bill?

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

How long did it take for you to do your SYE? And did you do it under the Jeep or pull the t-case?

I will probably be ordering my SYE within a month or so, any recommendations on which is the best?

I a have the PORC one. it leaks fluid, and I now have chain slap...
but that could be from years of abuse...

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

I did the RE hack and tap since I have the 242 t-case...for the regular SYE's I heard it's easier to do it with the t-case out, but since mine was the hack & tap, it was easier with it still in the jeep. It took me maybe 5 hours when everything was done, but that included fighting with the front driveshaft that I'm using to get the yoke attached to fit the SYE.

I'm not sure which SYE is best, are you planning on doing the hack & tap?

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

I've heard a lot of good things about advance adapters SYE and Tom Woods...I don't really know which one is best since I've never ran either.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

I was looking at the AA one, was planning to get that one but I figured since it came up here I might as well ask :)

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

i have the PORC.. been in for only about 3 months now... no complaints yet..

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

i did mine in the jeep, it was a PITA I would strongly recommend removing the T-case.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Alright, cool. Looks like I will remove T-case and get the AA one. :)

Hammered: what were the right tools? Yes I know I could search, but it's just too easy to ask you guys :D

Reverse Torx for the top of the... wait, is that he T-case or bell housing? Crap.. I don't remember.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

t-case removal is just some nuts... 14mm if I recall correctly. The only one that is a pain is the one behind that metal brace on the driver side of the tranny housing, I ended up using a box wrench on that one instead of a ratchet.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

the AA, Tom Woods, PORC, Rubicon Express, Crown, etc. are all the same SYE's.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Yeah, the inverse torx are bellhousing. I have those already anyway.

I just wasn't sure if there were any tools needed for the dis-assembly or re-assembly of the t-case itself.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

snap ring pliers will make you hate yourself a lot less.
