Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

its a shame.. we had a goal.. never to be reached now..

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Our goal was to beat the other lots o post. We TOTALLY would have done it too...seeing that we have 20000 posts on JFC. And 5228 on here. Thats close or more to the other thread I believe ;)

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

found out yesterday that the U-joint in my Subaru that is going bad... Factory crimped into place. Drive-shaft has to be cut and re-built to replace it... This is going to be fun.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

That sounds like a pain in the ass...I hope mine never goes bad. My windshield is getting replaced today on the subie, it had a massive crack going all the way across the windshield.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

how much does the windshield run? I have a hunch I might have to do that for the inspection...

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

nice thats not bad...

The Subaru is Grounded until dec 22nd when it goes into the shop for repair. Drive axle in the front, and bad u-joint in the rear makes the vibrations tickle my feet. and then I get from the mecahnic

"yeah i wouldn't drive this much more than work and home until you get that fixed, That SOB goes out, you will be putting a new Tranny in here..."

me - "work and home for two weeks is ~700 miles is that too much"

Him- "holy hell, no way man, got any other way to go?"

Me.. "yeah I got the jeeps.."

Him "JeepS? more than one?"

me "its good to have a spare, he he he"

Thats awesome, someday I will be able to say the same, but for now I get to say "I got the Jeep or motorcycles". What sucks is that even though I have 4 vehicles it seems that there are only 2 street-worthy ones at any given time (3 currently on the road, Jeep is not registered.. yet). Currently my car and my '86 fzx700 are good to go for the most part, my buddy snapped my XT350's clutch cable the week before he left for basic training :flamemad: Quick and cheap fix, but he broke it, he should fix it ... that and it was winter by the time I was picking it up from him so oh well, get it fixed for next summer.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Ha dont feel too bad, I have a lot of junk and only one on the road right now is my subaru...Jeep isnt roadworthy at the moment (should be getting inspected this weekend though), my old suburban is sitting until I get around to finishing the body work and selling it, and my 68 firebird is torn apart in the garage (long term project).

Mark, you doing the work yourself for your subie?

You know, I could do the work on the subie, but I just don't want to deal with it.
The place I take it to is DR Subaru, No LIE they are Subaru Dr's and really nice too.
If you want the number let me know, its a bit of a hike, but after having used almost every shop in the tri-county area... I don't take chances.

EDIT: oh, and don't try to do wheel bearings yourself, or even at an unqualified shop. If you Eff it up, you replace the bearing again and the wheel speed sensor, and abs lines, and axle shaft....ask me how I know :soapbox::rtm:
