so I did a bit of number crunching


i can basically get new 4.56's and have brandi's install them for the same price as having these gears installed by dave....

New gears are the way to go!

I just got off the phone with Dave at F.C. and I ran your issue by him as well. He said he can almost always get a used set of gears to run quiet .... at first. But as things wear in, there is a good chance they will get noisy .... and there is a really good chance they will fail WAY before a new set of gears would.

He also stressed that there is NO guarantee or warranty on used gear installs. He also said he won't do an install without a new install kit - which is more money.

I really think your best bet is new 4.56s and install kits ... and use whoever you trust and is cheap to do the install.

yep, thats kinda what im leaning towards.

If that's the case... DIY, and save your money.
Throw the 4.10s in setup the pattern as close as you can run the brake in just like any other gear setup and drive it. I put ~25kmi on 3.55's done that exact way, no noise no problems.
Save your money and put some better axles in it next time around that have lockers and sit...

is that an auto darkening helmet in the background? i need one, since im rocking a helmet from the 70's and it runs a straight 10 shade... so I basically weld with my eyes closed hahaha

autodarkening helmets are the most awesome thing in the world, INCLUDING sliced bread.

I've taught people (hahaha, me teaching people to weld, now that's a good one) to weld while using a non autodarkening helmet because they were watching how to start the weld using the autodarkening one, it wasn't as bad as I thought but I still like autodarkening more.

Another thing... read the packaging on welding goggles carefully... if it says "do not use for welding, for brazing use only" don't use it. Don't ask :gee: :looney:
