JP magazine is building 5.0L

700 HP? From 4.0 based engine? With a side-draught head?
I almost got to call BS... link to the article?
What did they do to the bottom end to make it all hold together?
Did they give an estimated cost on the beast?

here is the first part (the second doesn't seem to be on-line yet)

693HP from the crank... no BS
they have made 40 pulls with it on the dyno. I'm sure it won't last :explosion
I'm thinking about doing something similar but keep it NA and alittle more wallet friendly

You could just go buy a bunch of metal shards... I mean that is what this engine will be in a few weeks anyways right??

with my luck yes! :skull1:

I'd be interested to know what was the stroke length of the crank 505 Performance used in their 5.0L stroker. Given that they only overbored the cylinders +0.060" to a bore of 3.937", the stroke would need to be at least 4.140". This would require quite a bit of offset-grinding to the rod journals of a 258 crank.

Just a heads up: the crank has a 4.060" stroke and as Dino stated, the bore is 3.937". It is really a 4.9l, but 5.0l sounds so much cooler(just like the pony guys). My brother has the roller cam, pistons, rods, and valves ordered, but we're in limbo on the crank(wait for 505 to make their own or send them a good 12-weighter to offset grind) and haven't decided which turbo to use. . .

Callin shenanigans are we? Time to change your site to Dino's Mustang 4.9L GT site then(4.949l). In all seriousness, it looks like 505 is keeping our Jeep mod game going. My brother has spent hours talking to Max on the phone and has always had a smile after. Granted 505 is pushing the psi to get those #s and it probably won't be good for longevity, but I think we'll be happy w/ only 10-15#s of boost and only 500-550hp/600 lb-ft.
