I've had most of these tires at one point or another...
MTR's just suck, they're good for about 10,000 miles before the noise will drive you nutts. they're no good in the mud and rock we have here in the southest either. On road, no sipes so slip in the lughtest rain wet streets. Snow, well deeper snow may work, but ice and pack will have you spinning.
LTB's, awesome off-road, but oh my goodness they're terrible on the road. LOUD, not round at all for the first 10 min. of driving on the road on cold mornings. No sipes either.
TSLs, great off-road, like the LTB's on the road.
TSL SX's, surprisingly quiet on the road. Nice hummmmm, unlike the stinkin' annoying drone of the MTR's, I had these in the 38x14.50 size. Off-road... the best tire you can have in the mid-south mud and rock. Just a rediculously strong and sure-footed off-road tire. I love them.
TRXUS MT's, awesome in all the conditions I threw at them. Long wearing, excellent in the rain and snow, off-road will beat the MTR's hands down in the mud. They have many sipes for excellent road traction.
BFG MT KO's 33x10.50x15... Not bad on the road and half worn at this point. Off road do ok in the mud. Wet streets will loose traction easily. Snow, forget about it on the street. The other thing I really notice with the narrow tire, is rear end sway, on the jeep that is...
They're too narrow in my opinion for XJ's or my ZJ for that matter.
BFG AT KO... you can't beat them for a dd that sees occassional off road. Off-road they do well in the rocks, but be carefull with the sidewalls as they're pretty weak. In mud, they're terrible as expected. On the road wet weather, and snow traction is excellent. You also will be hard pressed to wear these suckers out. I was waiting to wear a set out on my first XJ to buy the TRXUS's, and finally had to give in after 40,000 miles. I sold them for 100 bucks, and the dude drove on them till 80,000 miles on his Jeep TJ.
I'm putting some 33 or 35x12.50x15 TRXUS MT's on my ZJ this spring. Best all around tire in my opinion. Sping will do a better job on the road, and the deep sipes and staged lugs make this a great tire in any condition.
Go with the wider tire for your rig.

have you ever run Dick Cepek's Mud Country tires? I'm not sure if I want to run the TRXUS or the Dick Cepek's. My Jeep is a DD but does see the trails on the weekends.

if u have 16" wheels, i would run 285/75/16 they r 33x11.50x16 i had them on a tj and worked really well inthe snow

I ran a set of 31's on my Toyota (not by choice) was new with the truck.
It surprised the crap out of me on how well it did. never chained up at all.
so I bought a set of 32's for my XJ and we had a pretty big storm here snow and ice. I just aired down to 10 lbs. and went everywhere.

I run 32" Firestone Destination's and LOVE them they are great in snow/mud/clay/rock/sand/ice Whatever your into these will work great.

I think that the TRXUS would be better DD tire and off-roader tire for the weekends over the DC's. I've not owned the DC tires, and I assume your talking about the new DC MT's not the Fun Country's. The DC FC's are an AT in my opinion, and would prob be similar to most AT's. I do strongly agree that the BFG AT KO is the absolute best AT out there.
The DC MT would be more similar to the MTR with center lugs not staggerd and farther apart than the TRXUS's pattern. This allows the mud to pack in the treads, and for you to loose traction. The TRXUS's have the famous three staged lug design (TSL) of the Super Swamper brand with a twist for on road performance. The outside lugs are the ones that do a lot of the mud work off-road. On the road they're basically not hitting the pavement much, as the center lugs that are tighter in pattern take the load. The center lugs unlike MTR's lugs are staggered but in a pattern that keeps more surface area on the road. Off-road the center lugs don't tend to get packed up though, because of this staggered design. Mud can be unloaded from the tire unlike the BFG MT's and the MTR's. The lugs you will notice on the TRXUS, are also slightly curved, helping sling the mud out.
Then there is the compund of the TRXUS. yes MTR's have tough side-walls, but so do the TRXUS. The rubber compound of the TRXUS seems softer though long wearing. The MTR is stiffer, and therefore wear is much more appherent in only 10,000 miles of driving. I was told to rotate the MTR's every 2000 miles, which I did, or they would get loud. They got loud anyway. Oh, I hat GY tires, that was my last set ever... !!
So, TRXUS I think are the greatest tire ever offered for us weekend warriors that want to hang with the big dogs.

you might want to also check out dunlop radial mud rover,low road noise and very large lugs,i used them in beach sand and mud pits to deep snow and as daily drivers and they do there job quite well as an all around jeep tire,not sure why no one really talks about them much,33x12.5x15 runs about 130.00 each
