Hey guys

My names Matt I got my first jeep aug 08 and promptly lifted it and wheeled the piss out of it. In Febuary I managed to put numerous dents in the oil pan... coming from the engine. :firedevil

At that time I didnt have the money to fix it so I kept all my good parts and scrapped it. in april I found another cherokee with 0 rust for $450 all it needed was a radiator (which I had from the old jeep). Well now in late june the jeep has decided to turn itself into a trail rig. I got to many tickets with it (27 inspection violations) and its off the road for good.

Here is how it sits today. In the next couple weeks I am going to start building/removing/upgrading (mostly removing) the snot out of it for wheeling and tough truck races.

Hey All,

Just picked up a '98 White XJ yesterday from No Excuses, Inc. in New Egypt, NJ. Jack, the owner, was very helpful with everything, and the truck is in great shape- no rust no dings or anything.

I live in Shamong, right near Wharton, so I plan on heading out riding every once in a while, in addition to driving it every day.

I don't know much about XJs, or 4x4s in general, so I hope to learn a bit about them here so I can wrench on it myself.

Has the following:

Boston Acoustics Speakers (will probably replace)
Kenwood HU (will probably replace)
CB Antenna and wired to the front
2" hitch
Detroit locker with a 29-spline 8.25 Chrysler Differential and Crane HD Cast Cover
Front differential guard
3" Skyjacker lift
31" BFG Mud Terrains with new American Racing Wheels
Tubular front bumper (not sure the make/model..any idea?)
Aluminum front skid plate

Future Mods I'm planning:

Battery terminals and cables from www.geocities.com/JeepI6Power
Smoked front corners
Paint fender flares & trim - they are very faded...either going with Line-X, Krylon Fusion, or SEM bumper paint
Floor Mats (doesn't have any right now)
Fogs for the tubular bumper
Tow Hook Mount Kit with D-Ring Mounts and 3/4" Shackles from hicountryoffroad.com
D-Ring for the Hitch
Upgrade the stereo to something decent
Roof basket with spotlights
Winch
2nd battery to power the stereo, winch, and extra lights

Let me know your thoughts, suggestions, etc.

Welcome to the forum, Matt. like the pic. of the jeep in the mud hole. keep us posted on how your rig turns out, when your done with it, and I look forward to seeing you on the trail sometime.

Re: New Member from NJ

truck looks real clean. i go down to that area a lot for wheeling. there's a ton of trails and the pic makes a perfect place to get lunch. let me know if you want to go wheeling sometime.

Re: New Member from NJ

welcome....I'll take the stereo stuff when you upgrade :listenmus

Hey my name is Tyler. I just got into the sport recently. I bought my 1996 XJ 3 weeks ago and just got my license a few days ago. My XJ is a 4 door 5 speed which is apparently a bit rare. It has 220K but is in perfect condition. The prev owner is a mechanic for dodge and had everything checked up on all the time. It was just used to drive to and from his work. Here it is when I picked it up

I bedlined the front bumper, trimmed my flares a little bit, took of the bug deflector (moustache' :D), took care of the minimal rust I had on the undercarriage, and will be putting on my swaybar discos this week. I plan to eventually have a 4.5" Lift with 32's but right now I am going to raid the JY's and get me a BB and Armor. Here it is now
