Important

I figure if I like brewing it I can spend my own money on a good kit later I was eyeing up a kit from Midwest supply if they didn't get me this one

Since the N was down yesterday I did a lot of reading and videos on the Mr beer kit. I'm ready to go but I wanna get some new kitchen tools so there nice and clean my can opener has seen better days :D

This is the kit, also got a brew pot, and bottles.

Dad bought it for me for Xmas. Seems more detailed than a Mr. Beer.
That's a pretty good kit. I also didn't realize that Kalamazoo Brewing had branched out into HBS (that's a good thing actually, they make some good beer.)

One thing I would suggest for bottlers is to invest in a bottle tree: http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/bottle-tree-90.html. I also picked up the pump gizmo to flush bottles: http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/...ttling-accessories/vinator-bottle-rinser.html.

You can also use your dishwasher to sanitize bottles. Run a high temp cycle with the bottles inverted on the racks. This will *NOT* clean the inside of the bottles. Check with your LHBS to get a jet devices that connects to your kitchen faucet for a power flush.

My parents got us a portable ice maker for Christmas. Will get lots of use in the garage and on camping trips.

Add water and plug in to 110v.

I made some last night for drinking ice...

What do you mean by extract kits?

Like what I have?
Extract = malted barley that's been run through a mashing process, then the wort is either condensed down to liquid malt extract, or dried for dry malt extract. This is more or less the first stage in all grain breweing.

If it's a complete kit, whether extract or all-grain, it'll have hops and yeast as well as other stuff. If it's a bottling kit, it'll have carbonation sugar as well.

You mean, will he have any LEFT by WF?

Wait a sec. I thought you said this was a 2 stage fermentation? Your equipment kit is set up for 2 stage fermentation, this kit (http://www.ldcarlson.com/public catalog/Brewers Best Recipes/1026.pdf) only lists 1 stage.

I saw that also, im assuming because the difficulty level is easy on this one.

I doubt ill have any left for wf. If I make it I'm sure ill bring a couple cases of something.

And thanks for the mag. Read it this morning.

Merry Christmas everyone. It's been christmas out here all day, but I know most of you are just getting to lunch.

that had to be a good day on the bike, what was it like 60 out yesterday.

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas.

Once again my family has single-handedly jump started the local economy. I talk about 'tightening the belt' and they go out and buy me a new belt

Gotta love 'em

I hear yah. I paid all my debt down all season. Only thing left is my car and house. Yet my sister and Mom max out two credit cards. I hope I don't need to bail them out later. Jeep was empty going to my Mom's and we barely fit all the gifts my Daughter received in it.
