Important

I don't rent or lease anything because of stuff like that... bought my tanks.

The oxy/ace tanks were way out of hydro cert so I had to have them tested, fortunately they passed. Got a pair of 40cf (iirc) oxy/ace tanks, a set of regulators, hoses, cutting torch, striker, and a tank cart for $250, tanks were full when I got it, I think I spent $80 or so having them retested?

Bought my 75/25 tank at Harbor Freight, their little one for cheap, traded it in at the local welding supply shop for a larger full one and split the tank cost difference. Now I just bring it back whenever I need it filled and trade for a full one.

I'm not a fan of vendor capture/people telling me what I can and cannot do with stuff.

I think he's more grown up than you.

Finding entertainment in underage drinking is far from grown up. To me, I find that to show a misplacement of priorities.

Instead of concentrating on how humorous it is to have kids cited for boozing it up, maybe be concerned with the fact that there are so many shitty parents or young adults out there contributing.

I would think it's more responsible to be concerned with the cause than laugh at the effect.

Ummm, confused here. No where did he say he thought it was funny that kids are drinking.

If underage kids that drink have bad parents, then you are saying my parents and myself, as well as most here, are bad.

Don't pass judgement on parents until you've walked the walk. Unless you plan on blaming the mom when your kid ****s up as a teen, which he will, we did.

I could be a dick, which I'm not most of the time, and give you shit about your life, but as we know you already don't like that.

I now feel less like an ass for laughing at you when you do things that are stupid. I'm not saying I condone underage drinking, but I certainly don't relish in the fact that kids get in trouble for being kids.

Intelligence is something often gained with age and experience. Maybe you'll grow up someday, too.

These comments seem contradictory to me...

I had my first drink at 20, four months before my 21st birthday. I was in college...does that make my parents bad parents?

I actually am interested to know the underage citations for that event this year, because I know it was off the hook last year per the reports we got from TH on the event.

Entertainment in knowing them? No, curious if they've taken steps to change things.

I bolded what I interpret as to him saying he finds it funny. I know I don't look forward to travesty.

I'm no model citizen, but I believe that children's actions are relative to their parents' positive or negative influence.

Kids do screw up, but somewhere up the line, an adult got them alcohol. Kids are going to be kids and I understand that, but they're not the only ones to blame.

And who at all likes getting shit about their own life?

How are those contradictory? It's not funny kids get into trouble. Parents play a role in how discrete they will be.

When you had your first drink at 20, were you out running around a festival-type venue, opening yourself to law enforcement or were you somewhere private, staying safe?

I guess what my opinion all boils down to is how public you make your no-no's. If you exercise a little discretion and stay quiet while screwing off, you don't become as much of a spectacle and maintain a higher standing.

It may sound a little like I'm playing devil's advocate saying I don't condone underage drinking then turn around and say that you should just keep your drinking quiet, but seriously. There is a time and place for everything. And if one of those has to be compromised, it may as well be time. Keep it behind closed doors, don't advertise.

Whatever.

Point taken.

I have been drinking for almost 15 years now...

I can honestly say its not my parents fault either. from 14-18 i didn't drink enough for them to even notice. moved out at 18 so they had no control over me. and that is how it should be. 18 just like the old days (long before i was born) if you are old enough to buy lottery tickets, cigarette, porn, and take out a loan you should be able to drink. drinking laws are retarded in my opinion.

Rew' iknow, i know kids get their porn off the internet these days'Ster

There is a lot of truth in that statement.

Minor consumption cases are chickenchit arrests IMO. Our campus PD brings them in left and right at .02-.05. If they're not driving, or in danger of alcohol poisoning, write a citation and let it go. When they don't show up in court, hook them for Failure to Appear :D

We have worked a lot of underage drinking parties, and 9 times out of 10 the kids that aren't stupid high BAC get ticketed and released to their parents; which is usually more punishment than jail.

Before I start with my comment, I should say, I am fine with legal drinking. I personally don't drink, don't have any intent to or even want to. I drank water most of the time anyway. Also, I think a big reason I don't drink is because in the 90's a drunk seriously hurt my grandpa. After that crash, my grandpa wasn't the same.

Onto my comment. I agree, don't arrest them, but give them a citation as long as they are not driving. The decision doesn't reflect on the parents as long as they are 18 (or even partly 17). I did have a slight urge to try wine a few times, but didn't for some reason. More importantly, make adult decisions and get in trouble, get adult trouble. I think the moving of inmates was more for those of legal age to drink who drink and drive or other charges. There will probably be upwards of 10k trucks here this weekend over the whole weekend. After parties happen all the time with cops being called for one reason or another.

Also, if you are able to join the military at 18, buy lottery tickets, I don't see 18 as being an issue either. Of course the organization that wants to lower the DUI limit to .05 does.

I had a drink at 16, didn't float my boat. Most of you know the reason I never drink but would love to see what happened if I did(Evil Bastards :D).

All this talk of drinking really makes me want a beer.

Called higher-ups used my charm and I got my tank, Now I am in the system for future business......

I have a simple outlook on drinking. It's the same outlook I have on religion.

I'm fine Witt you living to whatever standards you want. As long as what you do doesn't hurt other people, especially kids and women (Utah native thinking of polygamy here) I'm cool with it. However you want to make an instant enemy of me, start preaching about how living my life the way I do isn't up to your standards or that I should change my lifestyle (both religion and drinking) to natch yours.

We write tickets for minors mostly. Unless they are being a giant pita, then we'll take them to jail. In fact my usual routine for a loud party is turn it down, knock it off and if I come back, I'm checking IDs. If I go back (maybe get called back to 1 in 20) I write tickets till my hand hurts. It takes a lot of time to write all those tickets and we usually have calls pending to take, so I try not to spend all that time if a warning will take care of the problem.

This is pretty much where I stand on it also... live and let live.
