There's something to be said for finishing what you start here, I just couldn't come up with anything witty.

And nothing for an axle rating. The GAWR of a 35 is 2700 lbs. If you could put 1400 lbs in the bed, the rest of the weight of the rear of the vehicle would have to be 1300 lbs or less. That's possible I suppose, but how much does an MJ weigh?

The numbers I've found on the net range from 2900-ish to 3500. But I'm 700 miles from my FSM to get an 'official' number.

Nashville, TN in the morning for my birthday. Going to the Ryman for Opry Matinee. Oakridge Boys and Joey Rory are two I know playing that I like.

Well if somebody wants to put 28 bags of concrete in the back of their MJ, let me know. I'd like to watch :D

I used to keep a scale ticket from the scrapyard of 2600lbs in mine. But I dont know where the ticket went. That was a really not fun ride.

My brother sent me something today that made me think of this.

Again, NSFW due to language.

I almost posted it in the dinner thread, but it's all meals. Gets a good laugh and the food sounds really good.

Laughing my ass off reading that

Can't believe I beat Ken....

It depends. A regular MJ was 1,400lbs. The Metric Ton MJ was 2205 lbs.

LOL yeah I was out all day welding on two friends trucks. Literally haven't checked the internet since sometime Thursday.

Rear end is pretty damn light. The bed is around 250 I'd say (me and mjtjnj got one flipped over and onto the back of mine for the trip from NJ to MA with very little discomfort between the two of us) the frame is probably another 150-200 and the axle/springs are maybe 300 at a stretch. Add a hundred for the portion of the cab/engine/tranny weight that gets carried by the rear axle, it isn't much since it's so far back compared to where the weight is.

I bet me and one other reasonably strong dude could get the back end of an MJ off the ground.

I have had well over a ton in mine on a regular basis. I know because I have been demolishing the interior of my house and every run to the dump generally consists of 6-8 "demo bags" of horsehair plaster, stuffed to the point that I can barely lift them far enough to get them out the second floor window. I can lift a jeep 2.5 @ 340lbs alone if I have to, by way of comparison.

(PS: demo bags are awesome if you do that kind of work. They are rated for 110lbs, I put 200 in them all day and have put more in them but try not to. I've thrown them out a window loaded with 200+lbs of plaster and broken lath into a truck bed a floor below me without them bursting before.)

I may have to take you up on that assuming I get a job in the near future, I've been meaning to pour a cement floor in the basement. :D

I love mine. More room than a XJ, rides better, easier to lift. Transmissions suck, but they're plentiful. Cosmetic stuff is cheap and easy to find in a JY or ebay. Let me know what you need, I have a 98 at the shop with p/s lights intact.

I'm asking this here because I know a few of you have 5.9 Limited ZJ's

There is a coolant sensor of some sort on the lower radiator hose. Anyone know what use this is?

We are trying to sell my dads and the little info center keeps popping up with a bad coolant sensor alarm. Not sure if its that one or the actual coolant sensor. Checked all the parts stores like autozone, rock auto and such and none of them show this sensor.

You can't buy it.

It also may not be bad it could be a broken soder in the VIC.

There's info on a board that Polarjeep pointed me toward but I can't remember off the top of my head and I'm on my phone.

The two coolant sensors turn the fan on low or high setting.

VIC= Vehicle Information Center

Thespeedfreaks.net is a good forum for 5.9's

So. I don't think it's the VIC or the coolant level sensor. I'm pretty sure it's the one on the lower radiator hose. My dad unplugged it, messed with it and cleaned the plug and it quit doing it for awhile. He also drove it with that unplugged and said his mileage dropped from 16 to 9. Anyone know what it does? I'm guessing it affects the open-closed loop cycle but I thought that's what the actual temp sensor was for.
