Subject: Heritage Trust license plate funds
To Whom It May Concern:
I am inquiring about the allocation of funds from the Heritage Trust license plate program. Are they used primarily for the purchase of new recreation areas, or are some funds distributed out to existing properties? If they are distributed to the existing properties, how is it decided where they go? What is the stance of the Indiana Heritage Trust on developing more OHV areas for off-road riding and/or supporting Redbird SRA and Interlake SRA in the future?
Thanks,
Byron Fourman

Mr. Fourman, all of the money from the plate goes to acquire new property. We have helped acquire pieces of Redbird. The Division of Outdoor Recreation has its own account within the IHT fund. Nila Armstong is the person to talk with if you have ideas. She is copied on this e-mail. Thank you for your interest. - Nick
They did the smart thing and turned a floodplain back into a floodplain?! Holy crap.We have three rivers that meet in downtown Fort Wayne. So to say we are used to flooding is an understatement. They have done good things over the years to help with the flooding...several area downtown are now parks. A few other places are golf courses and other areas that are easy to fix or don't do much damage when there is a lot of water.
Take that dealership in the above pic, there was a dealership like that a few years ago (maybe 08), they tore it down and made it a grassy field owned by the city now.
So far, even with 3 inches expected in the next couple of days, they don't seem to concerned around here...at least not yet.
mac 'don't think I need to start building an ark...yet' gyvr
You would think someone with a fish sticker on their jeep would know the difference between boats and jeeps...![]()

Good lookin' out!!For those of you in Indiana interested in spending the extra $40 on a Heritage Trust Environment license plate, here is an email I sent and the reply I received from the DNR about fund allocation.
I talked with Nila Armstrong extensively when I was on the Redbird Foundation board, and she is all for developing ORV areas. If you want to help fund new state properties, the Heritage Trust plate is an easy way to do it. Note - I did not get one this year when I renewed my plates, but I had one on the XJ for several years.
