Cheese "30K + sq ft of space and we still have stuff sitting outside everywhere" Man

I need to reassess how I have things shedded......one of teh sheds has my father in laws ski boat and his moms pontoon boat in it..total value of maybe $10K for both combined...my $70K tractor is currently sitting outside in the elements....BUT..my 69 Chevy project is nice and toasty in aclimate controlled shop at my house :D
Either cheap, or a small, tractor....we've talked about this sort of thing before. I just don't get how some of this expensive equipment just sits out in the weather. I can see leaving tillage equipment like a disk, or a plow out, but tractors, harvesters and planters have enough precision moving parts to warrant being covered up.

I think I am going to drive this particular tractor to my home place and shed it there.. It is an hour by back roads but I hate seeing it left outside when not in use. I have plenty of room in my big building here.

I can see that, as long as you're not going to burn up tires running it back and forth every week.

A year ago, I watched a pretty new JD combine sit out by the highway all winter long. In the rain. In the snow. In the crud. I don't think I'd want to look inside the machine to see what took up residence. I just don't get it.

Thanks alot you two. Now I feel the need to go check on the CJ thats been in the garage, hasn't been started, moved or registered in like 5 years. On my day off, really.

All my junk sits outside.... Except for the XJ, thats been on a lift in the shop for months... hasta

Ohh I will, I took the wheel spacers off in back since one is junk and got the new tires and steering on yesterday. Just need to adjust the steering and its good to go!

<chuckle> Meant to tick the quote box. Meant for Nick.

The neighbor brought home an old Jeep a year ago, there's some family history associated with it. Otherwise.... it's worth scrap and not much more. An utter hack job drive train conversion, major oil leaks, no brakes (single circuit!,) leaky tires.

Mine was a little modified when I bought it, someone put an auto tranny & d300 in it which wasn't even offered till 81. I put the 3 speed & d20 back in it. On 32's it will run down the highway all day at 70 mph.

It takes ~24 hours to get from here to there straight, with three days, I'd only be there 1 day and I wouldn't sleep for like 72 hours...

It would still be worth it...
