it looks like the storm that was supposed to dump tomorrow is going to just breeze right by, so I will probably be even more good to go since I wont go this weekend. Do need to still install (and buy) some new motor mounts first though...
whats the elevation of that bear valley campground and how much was on the ground? With the current storm just not panning out and probably only a bit again next week, combined with sun, anything on top of pavement might not even be there next weekend. If we end up getting some good coverage though from this one and the one around wednesday then Ice house might be good
Bear Valley Campground is on Bowman Road leading up to Bowman Lake. It's about 4700', and all the snow I found there was about 6-8" on the asphalt, maybe more or less in the undisturbed parking areas. I went up past Fuller Lake, just past Rucker Lake, then turned around maybe a mile north of the turn off to Blue Lake @ 39.3577, -120.6635. Looks like it's going to snow/rain there tomorrow, but night temps are going up everywhere, so the snow won't likely stay anywhere it's fallen except in the upper areas & where the trees shade it from melting. Guess we'll just see where there is an interesting road to get wherever & head that direction when the weekend arrives.
this is the ice house area as of 72 hrs ago and we have more coming, either way Ice House is on the agenda...I love the crystal basin area this time of year, lots of roads to explore is all else fails and a possible run to the slabs if weather permits....lets just think snow until the trip
im going to have to count myself out for this one. I was planning to ski one of the two days and with the complete lack of snow thats not going to happen. I will have to wait for another run. Have a good time up there
