How would you...

I wasnt sure if the only different was the option of rebuilding or if there was an internal difference also

Ok the plans are go with 2.5 10-12" dual bypass Kings for the front and 7100 non resi in rear 14" with deavers all 4 corners, should run about 2500 total

For 2-2500 you should be able to run 2.5's on all corners, a shock hoop, and air bumps up front.

I'm assuming you're doing a rear hoop since you're talking about 14" shocks? If you're doing a hoop, go 2.5's from the get go. Also I'd go 16-18" just for the extra oil capacity. Like I said keep an eye on RDC and dezertrangers for good deals.

I wish I was doing a hoop. I was just using 14" as an example, but I just took a measurement of what Im running now and its roughly 17 collaped so Im looking more around 10s if that, because they bottom out as it is, they only have about 3" of uptravel. With the 2-2500 Im going to complete the front suspension so I am going to put 2.5's out front possibly go up to dual bypass with resi and since Im not ready for a rear hoop Im just throwing 2.0 non-resi's out back in factory location. I would go with 5125's in the rear but I think I'll go 7100's so I can resell when I do hoop it. But things may change if I find some on the sites you told me. Id like to air bump but that gets expensive, if I find used everything it will happen but if I have to by most or all new then it will come down the road. Im at least going to polybump and limit strap it for the moment until I get the motor in it down the road then get the air bumps and hoop the rear. Then its do nothing until I get my 40K in school loans paid off so I can play in the desert instead of small 2 acre sand dunes by the rivers. Ive already got a bender and dies for 1.750, 1.5 and 1.25 tubing. Its a manual pro-tools but it gets the job done. I havent found anything usefull on Race Dezert yet but Jeepspeed came in handy. When I do get my rear leafs what do I go for with shackles?

Shackle: 1" to 2" "boomerang" style. Pick your favorite make, especially if you're running a higher then stock arch spring.
( Really miss that about the CJ-5, $15.00 shackles :D )

Thanks! I'll keep what I got then. Right now Im running rk 1.5-2.5 boomerang thats made form 1/4 plate

Ordered a set of Mastercrafts today with my first check, 7-10 days shipping. Ordering rear shocks with the next 2 checks, going 8" Bilstein 7100 smooth non res in the rear and Front will be King 2.5 12" stroke remote res. Leading into a quick question..has anyone mounted 2.5 piggybacks with triple tube bypass on the front of a XJ? I will have enough to get a set but Im thinking just going without the bypass tubes, unless someone speaks up, Im afraid the tubes will hit the spring or the inner fender??
