Home brewed rock rails.

Well here they are so far. May get some time on them tomorrow but my argon is almost out. I may bend up some tubing tomorrow to make them Stage 4 billion. 100% TIG welded madness. The total on metal so far is $85 with some left overs. On to the pics.

Here is how I mocked the rail against the rocker. I figured they should be out a bit to protect better.

More mock up. Fun fact. The front arm is 9 1/2" while the rear is 10" to keep the rail even with the rocker line. The mounting plate on the rear is also offest to stay with the unibody lines.

Close up on welds.

Here I am so far. Need the pinch seam and the outside tubing. Not bad for a little time investment. They should do the job.

I will get some more pics with the seam bar and the tubing when its all mounted.

Thanks

Nice rails. are you going to add a kicker? That set-up will protect under, but what about rocks your scootin' around. I think it's worth adding a kicker, or letting them stick out a little further. They are very similar to yours, just with longer legs.

I can use mine to push around obstacles

Looks good! That is just how I built mine, and it was a fun project. Are you going to seal the ends up?

I haven't updated in while. I made the unibody mounts at a 90 to the bar. This doesn't work. The unibody is angled. I just cut off the unibody plates and am remounting them. I was still deciding on the outer bar. Seems like it will make getting in and out a bitch. I still may do it. The ends I have already capped. The pinch seam bar is already welded up too. I will get some more pics. The tubing is 3x2x1/8 for the main tube. 3x1x3/16 for the brackets.

I've replaced my rockers with 2X4 3X16 rect tubing then bent up an 1 3/4 nerf for it. Works great and keeps the trees/rocks off your doors. The ONLY time there a PITA is when you've been playing in the mud and you want to get out without being covered in mud.....
