They just sold a 1954 Olds F-88 concept car for $3million at the Barrett-Jackson auto auction. It's a record setting amount. Amazing.

It really sucks to not have the Speed channel....

maybe I can trade the "O" network or "MTV" for it....

2 mil huh?

Dang

It's been a while since I've yelled at the TV- I feel relieved :D

The guy in the Ferrari jacket was dead set on it too- even set down in it before it was over.

Looks like a catfish from the front, I wonder if a rapper bought it?

The rappers don't show at this because the cars aren't "Homie" enough for them. With the value and collectability of these cars, even they have enough brains not to mess with them. Barrett-Jackson is pretty much a sport of rich white boys...and Reggie Jackson(not the Jackson in the name but the baseball player).

The F-88 is a sexy ride, until you look at it head on.......catfish popped into my head immediately. Looks very Vette-ish from the side and behind, Zora's hand on this one is obvious.

I'm surprised that Olds brought 3 mil ...

About 4-5 months ago a '71 Hemi Cuda 4-sp convertible sold for 2 million. I believe it was through a private sale and at the time was the highest price paid for an american muscle car. There was only 2 or 3 Hemi Cuda convertibles made in 1971 ... the last production year for the Hemi cars.

Plymouth's are pulling some serious bank ...

'67 Hemi Belvedere RP 23 Factory Lightweight sold for $139K

'63 Belvedere 2-dr Post Max Wedge sold for $243K

If you're interested, this is the hotbed for '63-65 Max Wedge/Hemi cars.... Bob Mosher

I was liking that silver 59(?) Vette,

or that yellow 69(?) Vette 'custom' GT.

or Gurney's AAR racecar.

or Boyd's Alumatub roadster.

or etc...

3 Mil for a fugly (?) Olds is a LOT, but like was said, it was bought by a museum.

did somebody say that hemi 'cuda went for 300,000 ish? restored?
a restored car shouldnt be worth that much...its restored, restoration is easy...
3 mil for a corvette? ooops i mean an olds...lol.
i want a '70 olds 442 convertable...had one in 89 and it was fun fun fun...
or even better the buik GS w the h/o 455 red w/ blk conv't...mmmmhmmm! same year. of how bout the judge...a '71? yellow like in dazed and confused?
nice to see the different tatses of people in the auction...and on this site.
cheers.

I have hauled cars in there before and they have quite a few "homied" out cars. In fact I took a 68 Camaro there once that had been totaly mexicanized. The underhood area, the floorboards underneith the car and the whole trunk area was either chrome or gold plated and engraved....It was horable. Seen quite a few there like that.
