Hi all, first time poster. Had a 1999 XJ for years but recently sold it and bought a 1986 Pioneer with the boat anchor V6 and a five speed. I love it. Arizona car so literally zero rust. Incredible blue interior.
Anyway, I'm having an issue recently where with the light switch off, if I put the key into the ignition, the parking and dash lights come on. They remain on until the key is turned to the run position, at which point they turn off again. if I pull the light switch to the park position white the lights are on from the key, the lights all get just a bit brighter. It doesn't seem to affect anything, but it obviously isn't right. This began about the same time I had an issue with the parking light fuse blowing every time I turned them on via the switch. I believe this was due to moisture in the fuse block. the Jeep sat outside during some very heavy rains for several days and I noticed the drivers footwell was wet....I found that the grommet around the hood cable thru the firewall was toast and there are definitely areas where water could get in at the fuse block/wire harness through firewall as well. I sealed them up, dried everything out, and it no longer blows the fuse...but I have this key-parking light issue that I'd like to resolve. Thanks in advance for any advice!
