Hitch - will it fit?

Saw a hitch in the jy off a 94-97 (not sure on year) GC. briefly looking at it, it looks the same as my previous.

(its mostly unbolted, so easy to snag)

will it fit?

Also looking for a hitch. It's my understanding that anything 96 and older will interchange but 97-2001 is it's own animal. Someone correct me if thats wrong.

Correct, the difference is in the skids, not the hitch.

I know the ZJ skid plate will fit on the '97+ XJ with a little modification. What that mod is, I am drawing a blank on. So the hitch might fit, or it might not. But you have that older two door right? If so, no dice.

thanks. right now it has a class 0 hitch. thing is a piece of junk, but may be able to tow a bicycle, so yay...

OOPS I didnt see the GC part. I officially know absolutely nothing about Grand Cherokees and plan to keep it that way. (I think)

got an ZJ skid for $7 at a Pull a part the other day. will be putting it on my 97 hope it fits with my hitch. I will let you know

by the way i think my hitch came off an 96 or older, had to drill some holes but it works great, if that helps.

Do a search on the web and look for new hitches by the manufacturer, enter a hitch for your year of XJ, then a hitch for the year ZJ/WJ that has the potential hitch. I'm betting they won't work. I remember someone asking me if the hitch I had for sale would fit a '93 grand and I did that same interweb search and the mounts were vastly different. I have a feeling it's totally dependant on the bumper the hitch is supposed to fit under - the Grand being lower than an XJ.....

Aren't the Grand Cherokee gas tanks quite a bit lower and quite a bit different in size? I'd think that a G.C. gas skid wouldn't work at all and if it did, it'd hang way down...... :dunno:
