Heres what I did today...

R15 bats, I have 2x4 framing so my choices are limited, rolls were 11 bucks for 40ft, batts were 46 for 67ft so I ended up saving over 100 bucks...just wished I had room for more both the big chains stopped carrying rolls of r15 so i really have no choice

Had no room for the roxul I wanted to get which sucks since its 40 mins to the "shopping" areas

yea. you should have just tied it to the roof.

if you do use the roxul make sure you use a mask. we call it the green death at work. well you should wear one any way. I insulated an attic the other week and didnt wear one and later that nite I coughed up what I thought was blood, but on further inspection was insulation I had caught in the throat, and fingers crossed not my lungs.

I have full face respirator rated for nerve toxins so not worried about that aspect, with the wind blowing the jeep around in the highway I wasn't tying anything on top

is roxul basically rockwool? I forget.

Rockwool is hell, that shit is so incredibly itchy and dusty, I've torn way too much of it out of my house. First time I gutted a room I didn't wear a mask and the combination of rockwool, mold, dust, and moisture put me on my back for a week coughing up some really gross shit.

Ever since then I've worn a P95 respirator mask and never had an issue with it, it catches all the dust, mold, and fibers. Looking at the filters is horrifying thinking about how much of that crap I inhaled in the one time I worked maskless.

It's great for cleaning out the bachelor pad fridge too, you can pour a gallon of spoiled milk down the drain wearing a mask like that and not smell a thing :)

I think they have improved upon it. older guy I work with said you used to just open a bag and you would itch like crazy. but now its not so fibrous where it gets in the air like asbestos does.

plus I bet the stuff you pulled out of your walls was really old ken, when it "dries" out it gets more "air-borney"

The first time I tore it out it was still fairly damp and clumpy, since the roof was completely FUBAR, but it's quite dry and flies everywhere now.

I thought it WAS asbestos at first, which scared the hell out of me because I'd just inhaled a whole ton of it. Then it turned out to be the usual slag/rockwool.

Impulse buy time...

1989 4Runner with a V6, 5spd, solid axle swap, 63" chevy leafs in the rear. threw a battery in it, fired it up and drove home. Needs a tune up, rear brakes are frozen and tires are spanked.

Still working on the third ceiling for the day
****ing tired
12' Sheetrock are no joke

1/2". Bought a jack off amazon for 100 as a lightning deal, 30 bucks a day to rent so with a 2000+ sq ft house it's gonna take a while since in solo

Billy, my condolences on your 3vze ownership. Has the timing belt and head gasket been done yet? If not, get ready to do it... otherwise those motors hold together kinda ok.

Doug, damn, looks like you made a hell of a lot of progress.

I just drove that damn YJ I've been working on forever home after putting the rear shocks on. Got a replacement header panel for red jeep today at the junkyard, there happened to be a flame red late model with an unmolested header panel so of course I grabbed it. I hope to not smash this one on a tree for a while.

I love that stuff... foamed gypsum sheetrocks my world.

THE WEIGHT HAS BEEN LIFTED!

Just broke two sheets **** this, still gonna sit upstairs and drink beer and randomly spin the drill so the wife thinks I'm still going

at least it's cheap stuff, dunno what 12 footers cost you but I think HD gets me for 8 bucks a sheet on 8 foot 1/2" ultralight. Makes it hurt a little less when I screw up and measure from the wrong edge of the panel for an outlet box hole :banghead:
