Thanks guys. I'll be happy and sad when its over. As soon as we put the body back on, I sort of missed having a bare frame sitting on jackstands. I told my dad when I get a house, I'm going to get a TJ and just leave it disassembled in my garage for old time sake.
Oh, absolutely not. I already asked my dad if we were taking bets on whether it would start, or how far down the road it would get before it imploded. I think he thought I was joking...
Of course.
Mark, are you working alone on that or is your father helping? Either way looks great. Kinda cool to know you put it together all the way from a bare frame.
Thanks. Its mainly me doing the work, my dad helps some when I need a hand with the lifting or reposition of things, or if some tasks are just easier with a second set of hands. He comes out and asks what he can do, and I'll have him do this task or that, so he has definitely done some, such as install the gas tank and skid plate. He did a ton of work on the frame and axles in terms of sanding and grinding (which I'm happy, I really didn't want to do that work. I did a fair share of work on the frame as it was cutting off and grinding smooth the old 4 cylinder mounts, then transferring the 6 cylinder mounts) He has done a lot of sanding and painting of brackets, axles etc.
I disassembled everything from it, which I wanted to make sure it was me who did that because I needed to make sure I knew how it all went back together. Did all the engine work, ordering of parts, etc.
He is definitely happy and willing to help (both because it is his, and he is always willing to help me when I need something when working on vehicles). Its just odd to be the one teaching him how it all works, and explaining what each thing is, and how they go together. He said he has definitely learned a lot from this project, and is happy to have done so. He is always wondering how I learned all the stuff I know.
Ya, it is pretty crazy knowing that it was completely assembled in my garage. It was really weird the first time we took the body off, seeing just a frame with components was a little bit odd at first.
