Help Buying a Car...

You know the feeling. 😬 A friend wants you to go with them to look a car over and tell them if they should buy it. I said I'd give it a once over and let her know what I thought. It was at one of those little used lots in a less than picturesque area of Riverside Ca. It was a clean little '74 Capri, 17,000 miles and I was 16 years old. She was 17, kinda cute and a tail on her ;) that I ended up following for the next 26-1/2 years. She drove that Capri for seven more years with no problems. That is until the carb came loose and it caught fire while I was pulling into a gas station. I thought I was running out of gas. Nope. It was on fire and at the pumps. Timing is everything!
The car was gone, but I had found a friend on that little car lot doing something that I just knew would come back and bite me on the butt. No, bit the heart instead.

I lost Norma last Thursday morning around 4 am from a complication following surgery. A blood clot broke loose in her leg and ended up at the lungs. She went home in her sleep.

There was nothing left unsaid. Our marriage was full of love and affection. But most of all we were best friends. Both of our boys were able to witness what God had in mind for a man and a woman. Through the good and the bad, our God and our vows before Him were the center point of our life.

I'm trying to do two thing here. #One is to those of you that had met or knew her know what has happened. #Two is just to say to those of you who are still so young and single: Choose well, commit to the commitment and don't forget to look into the mirror. It's worth it!

I'll miss her, but its time to go on. That's what she wanted.

Damn Tim, don't really know what to say (I've always been bad at these situations), but keep on going and I'll keep you in my mind.

Although I have never meet you or her. I do know whats is like to lose someone special. You have my condolences.

Tim,

Sorry to hear of your loss!

It's sounds like you had a great partner there! I'm sure she'll be missed by many!

Prayers go out to you and your family.

Bent, you and yours will be in our prayers.

Mike

Bent, I am sorry for your loss. I appreciate the story about the car. For those of us that do not you you or her, it is a nice touch.

I hope that if I am ever in that situation, I can put it to words as you did.
Glenn

Tim, so sorry for your loss.

Your words, however, are inspiring.....thanks for sharing in such a meaningful way.

Tim, I'm stunned, I'm speechless! I'm well.....
I have met Norma that one interesting wheeling day and I just can't believe it. I read this message 3 times cause I just can't believe it!
Please accept my deepest condolences and if you or Ethan need anything, or just want to talk or anything like that feel free to give me a call or stop by if you're in the area.

Having never ventured out west (at least with my jeep), I never had the opportunity to meet either you or your wife, but it sounds like you have a love which has stood the test of time. You and your family are certainly in my heart and prayers and I wish you the best

Well, it's been three years now as of Sunday the 19th. Things are better but mostly just different.
I just want to thank all of those here that keep dragging Ethan and I out of our holes from time to time, dragging me out on the trail, sending a PM, stopping by or just giving us a call. It was her idea to get the XJ (and build it) and get involved with a club. I am glad I did, more now than ever. The friends that Ethan and I have here have been an incredible blessing. You have propped us up, kicked us in the butt, made us laugh, shared memories and given us space when we have needed it. Even those of you that I don't always get along with around here have been helpful, in your own special little way, that is. ;)
Thanks to one and all, especially for Ethan. Over the years you have always taken him in and allowed him to be "somebody", not just "Tim's son". It has made a huge difference in his life. It hasn't helped much with the soap, though, Avery. :D

I know that there were cobwebs on this thread and I had thought about starting a new one, it's just that this is where my heart is at the moment.
Thanks once again,
Tim and Ethan

She never did want anything that was easy!
I suppose it's time to dust off the XJ.

Damn Tim I didnt even realise this thread existed let alone what had happened back then, Ive got a whole new respect for you and Ethan. I dont know what else to say but I hope to see you on the trail soon.

I wasn't around here during the first time around for this thread, but i'm so very sorry for your loss Tim.

If you're ever out this way and need anything, drop me a PM :)

- A fellow Tim.

Sorry to hear that soap problem still exists. ;)

Wow brother, I don't think I ever heard the story.... That's one hell of a tribute.

Sorry, I missed you guys the last few times I've been there.
I've got a feeling, I'll probably be back before the end of the year.
