GUNS & AMMO

GUNS & AMMO

His and hers XD-M .45 Compacts. I took her 13 round mag and grip extension and she gets the other 9 round magazine. I need to get a couple of more mags but its a start.

The plan is to get her slide dura-coated pink and I might have mine dura-coated DFE.

Seems to me I tried to use it for something that was heated less than boiling temperature and it didn't hold up. This was stuff a company inherited from an older version of the company so I don't know if it was past it's prime. I'm sure I was trying to use it for shielding in an electroplating situation, so there probably was some mild chemistry involved also. FWIW.

Right, but 140 degrees F isn't very hot. I wasn't impressed with the stuff, but it seems to work on tools. :dunno:

Nice. My wife wants a full-frame XDm in 9mm.

nice. big fan of xdms.

My original plan was to get a full size for myself and the wife acompact. I had found 2 decent deals on Armslist for some XD tacticals and was going to head down to look at them but on a whim stopped by Buckley and they had 2 of the XD-M Compacts in stock so I went with those. I made the decision early on that I wanted wither the XD or XD-M w/o any real preferance, but whichever one I found first that both my wife's and mine would be the same platform fo ease of magazine sharing. This just makes it even easier as they can both take the 9 or 13 round magazines. My wife prefers the shorter grip with the 9 round mags so she has those and I like the longer grip afforded by the 13 round mags. I'm going to by at least 2 more of each so that we both have 4 magazines in our prefered size, but if SHTF we could easily toss them back and forth between us w/o issue.

I let my wife pick the caliber as I like both 9mm and .45 ACP equally. I had her shoot a few different 9's and .45's in the two platforms I wanted us to go with (M&P and XD/XD-M) and she decided she liked the XD in .45 best, specifically with the shorter grip. I sold my FNP-9 to fund my own and already had the money set aside for hers.

I know most of you aren't facebookers. And I don't follow them on there anyway but a friends post on it caught my attention.
The station posted a pic of a man OC in a diner, doing nothing but eating his food. With the caption, Would you feel safe with this less than 10feet away from your children. And later posting in comments that they felt it was disgusting and should not be allowed.
This irritates me for two main reasons:
1: One of the DJ's Lacie is the wife of an old riding buddy of mine. A few years back she was home when a few guys broke into the house. Unfortunately her husband had taken the only weapon with him. Leaving her there to get beat around and robbed. She was so upset about not being able to protect herself and is now posting this crap (it was her show that posted it)
2: I hate people using the 1st the defile the 2nd. I really wonder what the world would be like if the 2nd was used to keep the first in check the way the 1st is used against the 2nd. GRRR
Pic for reference:

All praises be to that man!!

And the woman apparently didn't learn anything which is even further a tragic happenstance.

I'm the first to support open carry...... But the carrying person has to be responsible and safe. Sitting at a bar with your back to gawd knows how many people, gun hanging out..... SO easily taken from him like that. Yes that's a level 2 holster, but from how he's sitting I'm confident I could take it....and quickly.

Go sit in a booth or with your back to a wall...... This guy is kinda exploiting both 1st & 2nd amendment rights if you ask me...... "Yeah I'm carrying.... What you gotta say about it?"

That's my take on it anyway......

I have to agree. I pack and pack often, but the people around me are oplivious to the fact that a gun is near them. I do it concealed for my own safety and out of respect for the general public.

I sort of agree, he could be more careful, and should. But the point is Its his right to carry it where ever he wants. I carry concealed as well but that doesnt mean i should or I have to. I just dont like the attention and I think im safer if bad guys dont know i have it unless the need arises then They will know.

But still I support open Carry and those that chose to do so.

If I had my way I'd be able to wear a good old fashioned SA 6-shooter on my hip. Leather belt full of ammo and all.

Troy, love your avitar! I need a hat like that. Or maybe one that says: asshatery master.

Postal, your post of always carrying reminds me of a run in I had with a Sheriff in Wyoming. Me and some friends were fishing (read: heavy drinking) at the south end of Pathfinder Reservoir when, out of nowhere, a Sheriff pulls up. We had a long discussion about everything but one thing he said to me sticks in my mind. He said: son, this is Wyoming, everyone is carrying a gun.:yelclap:
