GUNS & AMMO

Breaching rounds are slugs, their only real difference is that they're designed to disintegrate immediately after destroying the locking mechanism or hinge so as not to ricochet and cause injury to people on either side of the door.

And Breacher "chokes" aren't actually chokes, they're just a muzzle end designed to keep the barrel on target and keep limit ricochet back towards the operator when performing breaching operations.

There was an episode of Top Shot where they used the Mossberg Chainsaw in a challenge. Man I wanted one, but I am aquatically challenged, and I'm sure it would sink the first time I boated.

In addition to looking cool, I'm with Fred. As a melee weapon, the crenulated barrel end would be much more effective when the SHTF.

I, too, would theoretically enjoy one, but I am opposed to violence.

I stopped at Sportsmans Warehouse today to price-out and accessory or two and asked the counter guy if he had any EBr's stashed in the back.......

Then I had to tell him what an EBR was......

Then he told me no, nne in the store at all, but he looked a bit twitchy....

I then asked when they were getting some EBR's.....

He said they get them on Monday's, mostly but people are lined up outside for hours before the store opens to buy 'em.....

I asked if he could stash one with the others in the back of the store......

He said no.

****er.

FINALLY got my 9mm stuff in..sheesh.

Did ya'all hear about the Belleville Illinois Denny's restaurant that kicked out a group of plain clothes cops because a customer complained they saw their guns. The Denny's manager told them they would have to leave the guns in their cars or they couldn't stay.

The cops left. And I'm betting there won't be another cop to eat there ever again and probably quite a few gun advocates too.... unless the store owner does some serious damage control.

I did. I thought I remembered reading a statement from dennys that it was a gross misrepresentation by the manager and that was not a policy of the company...

Yeah I didn't mean to imply all Denny's have this as a policy, more just to comment on how utterly stupid some people can be. Seriously? Folks don't wanna dine in the presence of plain-clothed cops because the sight of a gun makes them lose their lunch??? And a manager thinks he should ask he cops to leave rather than the complaining patrons? (As other reports have indicated, the manager explained to the complaining patrons that those were in fact cops and they STILL complained).

Ugh.

I join my team for breakfasts on occasion at the Denny's in our areas and they love having us..... so do the patrons. Folks come by and chat with us - even sit with us sometimes. Many times on a training day, a group of us go to lunch in plain clothes with open-carry side arms (but yeah, paired with a badge or ID next to the holster) and never seem to see an eyebrow raised. Sheesh.

oh ya very stupid. See the bank of America thing? Holding accounts for dealer who sells online. They said they didn't think he should be selling guns or parts online and his accounts are frozen

Hadn't heard about that - but yeah...... unreal how folks take action without education or authority.

Oh, I have stories about Denny's and Cops, back when Denny's was really Denny's(early 70's). When we first opened in Franklin Park, down the street from O'Hare Airport, and across the street from a strip joint, we gave all uniformed officers 1/2 price meals, and free drinks. Pretty soon, we were filled with cops and their girlfriends. Franklin Park is in the midst of a lot of little Cook county suburbs. We had them from everywhere. When they could only get their meal 1/2 price, it calmed down. Denny's was the only 24 hour joint around in those days, it made sense for protection. I worked graveyard, it was a Tom Waites, Nighthawks at the Diner, moment most nights. One night some big old drunk was hassling his girlfriend, and I had to go out and speak with him. He stood up, and was yelling at me, about how he didn't care if what he was doing bothered me, when the Stone Park cop, who weighed an honest 300# or so, stood up and said, "Yeah, but it bothers me." Drunk shut up, there wasn't much BS about police brutality in those times, and that part of the country.

Then we did get robbed, shots were fired, I had a .357 revolver pointed at my face from 20 feet, was told to freeze, and ran like a girl(graveyard short order cooks have quick reactions), and it took the cops 20 minutes to get there. The perps were long gone, leaving a big crater in the stucco of the Denny's when a busboy got all brave and chased them. They had only fired blanks inside, so he was confident. When the last shot was fired and he saw the hole in the building, he finally learned to love life. :)

I can still see how big the end of that barrel was. :)

I thought Denny's was "Sambos" in the 70's? It was in Greality, anyways -- quite a story, though, Fred...
